Walk In Tubs
Can anyone share their experience , pro or con, with a walk in tub?
|
I'm interested also. You,would obviously have to get in before filling it and that seems as if it would take a long time. Might be ok with a heated seat!

And a long time to empty........

Hi! I decided against walk in tub for my mom
Because I know she wouldn't like sitting in it Waiting for it to fill up. And especially waiting For it to drain before getting out. |
We have a Softub portable spa on our lanai. Easy to get in and out of, low to the ground only about knee height, 110 volt, cheap to heat. We keep ours at 96 degrees. Great for a long soak when the bones are aching.

I have a walk-in tub and it fills up and empties amazingly quickly.
I would get a full-length one though and not a shower size. |
Expensive
We would like to have one to lessen the worry about falling in the shower. Use a chair for the time being. The walk in tubs just seem to be so expensive.

Personally, I rather have a walk-in shower with a built in seat for my mother. I had a Roman Shower put in our TV home that we built in 2012 in case she ever had to be wheeled into the shower. She has a large Jacuzzi tub in our master bathroom in our Michigan home and never uses it because she can't get in and out of it! She loves her shower!
My Dad was in a wheelchair before he passed away. Luckily, their master bath was big enough that Mom could turn around his wheelchair and she could get him in the seated shower. Luckily, my Dad was not a large person and he fit into a smaller wheelchair because the larger wheelchairs would not have fit through the bathroom door! |
And it most likely will take the better part of a 40 gallon hot water tank to fill the tub each time.
I would not like the idea of sitting in my "dirty" bath water as it drains around me redepositing what I just washed off! |
$18,000 for a bathtub

Remember ,if its advertised on TV-be very, very, careful- you might need a second hot water heater in series to have enough water to use it. I wish some of the neighborhood pools would have a spa pool.

Kind of like a hot tub. My tub bubbles and I like it a lot. :) As I said, it fills up and empties very quickly. It doesn't use a lot of water. |
Thank you for your comments. Could you share the brand of walk in tub you purchased?
Divergent |
Premier Bathrooms, compact walk-in bath. At the time it was called the Stratford model with the Hydrotherapy option.
