Laundry Room Storage

We had Bailey's out to design and quote storage for our laundry room. We have a Lantana and want a desk under the window; utility closet and a few additional cabinets; all to match our kitchen cabinets.

The quote was twice as high as expected.

Has anyone used other vendors for this type of work? We want the same cabinet design and color that's in the kitchen.

Nanci - Sorry to hear that. We did the same thing in our Lantana and used Beth from Bailey Ind. Quote for us was a little higher than expected but not out of the ballpark. She gave us exactly what we wanted and cabinets/counters match as we had hoped.

PS - If you haven't done so, please consider joining the Chicagoland Club. Email chicagolandclub@aol.com for information.

Sometimes you do have to utilize a different vendor. None of the cabinets or drawers in my house came with knobs. Being a traditionalist, I called Bailey's to give me a quote on the knobs. For 36 knobs, I was quoted $725 with installation. I went to Lowe's, purchased the same knobs and a template for a little over $100! It took me about 2 nours to install them. Even if I had hired a handyman to do it, it certainly would have been no where near $725.

Mac; I have the same problem. Cabinets are installed without hardware but the cabinets are not designed NOT to have hardware. There are no rounded corners nor are they beveled at the bottom. I met with the builder and he agrees; cabinets need hardware but he can't do anything about it. It's up to TV and Baileys. I'm gearing up for a debate on this one!

As far as hardware.....we ordered beautiful pueter polf balls and golf bags and installed ourselves....we spent a little over $200 on the hardware...and maybe 2 hours of work.....ok...I didn't really do it but still as a household...it was all done witin 2 hours and $200. ;D

Cassie, the issue is the cabinets are designed to have hardware. It's like they did half the job!

Gotcha! That is frustrating! But if there is nothing you can do unless pay them more money I would look elsewhere. However it is always my goal to get what I have believed to have paid for.

I'm glad they don't put the hardware on the cabinets. More than likely they would put something cheap that I would want to replace anyway. Then you have the holes already drilled, and they might not be where you want them for your new hardware. Doorpulls should reflect the style that you choose for your decor. If you want a country kitchen you aren't going to like the hardware I put in my modern kitchen.
