Driving through the fires out West!
Even in the face of danger, not knowing what is around the next bend, one has the presence to record the experience. It is actually very scary and gives one a closer look at the reality of what these guys face:

It is too horrible. I feel so bad for those in this devastation. I hope and pray that none of the fires were started on purpose. |
I was caught in the Oakland hills fire in the bay area in the late 80's and know how horrifying it is. I saw a small car that the engine block had melted and lay al over the parking lot. Thousands of million dollar homes went up in the eucalyptus tree fed fire. My thoughts are with my sister knowing she is still safe.

We were caught in a forest fire a few weeks ago in Washington. We drove a few hours up into The Northern Cascade mountains and when we reached Diablo Lake we could not see anything but heavy smoke. We turned around and headed back down the mountain. We drove right into more heavy smoke and fire. I got out of the car and took a video (silly me ) and we high tailed it out of there. About 15 minutes later we heard on the radio highway 20 was closed and people were being evacuated. We were fortunate to have made it out.
Three firemen were killed and countless homes burned to the ground. It was heartbreaking seeing so much beauty being destroyed. It was a sad day for us. |
