Activity Ideas For Visiting Toddler Grandchildren
I will be visiting my in laws for a week at the end of September, we are looking for some fun activities to do with our two year old and them without going to Orlando ... anyone have ideas of great places to visit? Last time we visited the only park we found was for older kids near Sumter Landing. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to reply. We live in South Florida (near Ft.Lauderdale) and can give you lots of ideas of places to visit down here if anyone is planning on coming down to this area.

Silver Springs is fun...a little amusement park with boat rides and fun history...and animals. There is another park off of Rainy Trail....not on Villages property but access by car.... Further away is Homossa Springs...animals and animals galore....with manatees! I believe there is a posting on here somewhere for things to do outside the villages....will look for it and bump it up for you if I can find it |

here's a good thread on day trips, I'm thinking you really want something adjacent, not much of a drive

We noticed that the pond behind the church at Spanish Springs had lots of little kids feeding the ducks. There's a sandy bank and a platform they can run out to. It involves splashing through 3" of water to get to it, so count on the kids getting wet. The recreation guide http://www.districtgov.org/images/RecGuide.pdf is marked with picnic areas and fishing spots. The calendar that Citizens First Bank gave us shows Roger's Park in Venetian Gardens in Leesburg. "Wooden castles, walkways and climbing structures under a canopy of old oaks were designed with active kids in mind." |

There is a Barnes & Noble in Sumter Landing - I don't know if it has the toy train area like the others do around, but that is one of my granddaughters favorite things. Also, I am sure they will enjoy the music at the squares to "dance".
