A Money Saving Warning

I had just finished play and was making a right hand turn onto St Charles Place into the diamond lane when I spotted the sheriff setting up a speed tracking unit. The sheriff much to my surprise continued to block the diamond lane as I approached. I stopped he walked over and in a polite and professional manner proceeded to tell me that I exited the rec center without stopping at the stop sign. I did not argue I did not say anything but listened intently. He ended by saying even driving a golf cart you can get a $131.00 fine for not stopping at a stop sign. I thanked him for the warning and proceeded down the diamond lane at no more that 15mph.

Internally I was saying to myself I did stop I did count 1--1000 2-1000-3-1000 as I searched for oncoming diamond lane traffic to my left. But while my mother may have raised a dumb boy she did not raise a fool and this officer was being reasonable and generous from his point of view.

So whether its a parking lot or road, a wide white line means stop even if a stop sign is not present.

and even if you believe your in the right never never yell No Justice No Peace while stopped by a cop. Its always a loser. if you do receive a ticket plead your innocents for the record but your chances of winning in court are less than lotto odds.

No warnings for the guilty. Let them get caught and pay the fines.

There should be more officers placed all around TV....the money they make off the tickets will more than pay for the manpower.

Eventually there may be an improvement in the number of folks who do not think traffic laws apply to them.

Book em Danno!!

Stopping.

I always wait till I feel the weight of the vehicle shift from the frony end to the rear end. Driving instructor taught me that about 50 years ago. Driving now, not walking.

There is a situation that boggles my mind. It's in relation to the RaceTrac gas station on 27/441 across from Water Oak Estates. If you're northbound on 27/441 and you want to enter the station there are two apparent options and neither is legal.

At the red light you can do one of two things, make a u-turn southbound and turn into the station, however there is a sign that u-turns are illegal. You could turn left onto Teague Trail and go about 50 yards and turn left into the station's side entrance. Once again, there is a sign that indicates u-turns are illegal. To turn left into the station is not a full u-turn, it's actually about a 110 degree turn.

About 2 months ago I stopped for gas and was northbound, so I used the left turn onto Teague and then a 110 degree turn into the station. A Lady Lake police officer was in his car in the lot and pulled up to me at the pump and said, you know u-turns are illegal there. I said they are also illegal in front of the station at the light, how am I suppose to enter the station? He said I should of continued down Teague Trail until I could pull into a business and turn around in their parking lot and then come back and make a right turn into the station. This is the truth, and no I didn't get a ticket.

If the police give out tickets I would hope the station would put up some signs of their own to warn customers. The way I read your explanation I do not see a U turn as you pulled off the road into a business.

Turn left on Teague, then left again on curve (instead of u-turn), enter RaceTrac's rear entrance. Perfectly legal.

I live on a corner lot and the there is a woman who drives a fancy street legal cart. She never ever stops at the stop sign and if there is no traffic she does not even slow down.
Lots of people walk their dogs up and down the street. One day Karma will catch up with this woman!

A motorcycle cop with radar could make a fortune on my street.
