Cover t.v. on lanai
Thinking of putting a small t.v. on the lanai. Did you cover yours, with what? Or, did you out it in a cabinet? How did you protect it?

Our lanai is covered but I was wondering if a TV can handle the Florida humidity. I put a small radio out there last fall and it still works fine. I just bought a used 20" flat screen for $25 and put it out there to see how long it lasts. I don't mind losing $25, but I don't want to spend $500 and lose it. Just testing the waters.

We had a large (55 inch) mounted on the lanai for over a year, had it enclosed in a simple enclosure, no problems, now using indoors since the other flat screen TV failed.
We will be putting the TV back out on the lanai in the near future, but not in the same location, so we are going with a cover this time. |
My neighbors do not have a TV on the lanai and they do not smoke. Thank you, thank you.

We have a 42" TV on our lanai, been there a couple years now. Works fine. I just keep it covered with a flannel cover my wife simply made that I throw over the top like an envelope. Used a towel before she made that. This keeps the humidity, dust and pollen out while still allowing the TV to breath and cool off after use. I keep our remotes in a plastic box like you store food in... keeps them dry when it rains.

There was a small 19 inch TV on the lanai when we bought our house. I'm pretty sure it's never been covered works fine not my idea for a TV. . I'm thinking it's about five years old so so far so good. No cover it's just in the corner of the lanai close to the house.

Any ideas for an inventive
cover or cabinet? |
And that's why I bought a house without kissing lanais.

I'd like to put one on my lanai as well, but isn't it a tempting treat for a thief???

We have an air conditioned lanai with the glass sliders and shades. I placed a TV there back in Jan. Recently the TV went out but was covered under warranty and was repaired. I think the fact that we do not operate the small AC unit all the time that it is possible condensation caused the problem. From now on I plan to cover the TV.
