Everest.

:BigApplause:

Exciting and also sad movie but seemed a little flawed after having read Into Thin Air a few years before going to see this film.

A lot better than the movie Into Thin Air though.

I recommend highly the book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. Jon Krakauer: Climbing Everest my 'biggest mistake' - CNN.com

Read the book as well. Very moving.

Breaking Mount Everest

I found this very interesting article about women Everest climbers.

There are a lot of fascinating articles about Everest out there on the Internet. :read:

Went to the Regal IMAX (75 min drive) in Orlando to see it in 3D. Senior rate $38 for 2 and they validate parking. Had a great lunch at The Pub, a few steps away from the theater. Good movie and a fun 1/2 day excursion.

How big is this? I have been to two IMAXs in Tampa which were quite large. Saw one of the Matrix movies as well as a Star Trek movie in these.

This one is 6 stories high and uses 70MM digital. I believe it is as big as they get and has the newest 70mm technology.

My friend, Mark Derwin, plays Lou Kasischke in Everest. His scenes were filmed in the Italian Alps. Subsequent scenes were filmed in Nepal.

After the Wind: 1996 Everest Tragedy, One Survivor's Story by Lou Kasischke

I thought Everest was excellent and very realistic. It was as if real groups were going on the climb and they took a cameraman with them to record the event. They faced frigid cold and wind, with the biggest problem developing on the descent. The cinema photography was terrific.
