Everest.

Exciting and also sad movie but seemed a little flawed after having read Into Thin Air a few years before going to see this film. A lot better than the movie Into Thin Air though. I recommend highly the book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. Jon Krakauer: Climbing Everest my 'biggest mistake' - CNN.com |
Read the book as well. Very moving.

Breaking Mount Everest
I found this very interesting article about women Everest climbers. There are a lot of fascinating articles about Everest out there on the Internet. :read: |
Went to the Regal IMAX (75 min drive) in Orlando to see it in 3D. Senior rate $38 for 2 and they validate parking. Had a great lunch at The Pub, a few steps away from the theater. Good movie and a fun 1/2 day excursion.

My friend, Mark Derwin, plays Lou Kasischke in Everest. His scenes were filmed in the Italian Alps. Subsequent scenes were filmed in Nepal.

After the Wind: 1996 Everest Tragedy, One Survivor's Story by Lou Kasischke |
I thought Everest was excellent and very realistic. It was as if real groups were going on the climb and they took a cameraman with them to record the event. They faced frigid cold and wind, with the biggest problem developing on the descent. The cinema photography was terrific.
