Yamaha Golf Cart

We recently purchased a reconditioned Yamaha 48 V Electric cart as a second cart. Did not notice this during the test drive but once got the cart home we noticed that when pressing the accelerator gently, the cart "jerks" until you press the pedal harder. Called the dealership(which i won't name at this time) to have it checked. The repairman that came to the house to check it said that this was normal for Yamaha electric carts. Do any of you own a Yamaha electric and if so are you experiencing this with your cart? I don't want to wait around until the warranty expires and have a major repair on my hands.

We have a Yamaha 48v (8 X 6 Volt). No jerk when pushing accellerator gently. Who is the dealer?

Methinks the Yamaha jerk may be the dealer??????

We have a 2013 EFI Gas Yamaha as do a few of our neighbors.
Ours did the same thing.
The carts needed an severe duty clutch kit and belt which was no cost to us under warranty.
The invoice did show it would have cost $115.00

How does the new clutch work? I'll get a little pop going uphill or with a load.

The OP has a 48V electric cart... last I knew, electric carts don't have clutches. Might have something to do with the voltage controller. Take it to a different service center.

The original post is from 2008, plus I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that 'schotzyb' had passed away.

Have owned a Yamaha electric for nearly seven years...never experienced any jerk (except for some other cart drivers).

My 2005 Yamaha did the same thing and I was told it is the regenerative braking feature. I disabled it by disconnecting a wire harness plug eight inches from the motor.
