How do you get rid of bulky trash items? Do you have to take it to a dump or is there a better way?

Never mind, I found the answer here.

Since "I found the answer here." doesn't advise where "here" is, and in case someone is looking for an answer, we have found that the trash collection folks seem to take anything reasonable they can lift into the truck. I broken down things like cabinets into a pile of wood, but we have had VERY large piles of cardboard boxes, even drywall and wood pieces from remodeling projects. Bulky things like chairs and furniture we have donated to one of the many Charitable organizations around.

Just call them, they will send out a truck for big bulky items.

In our neighborhood we have trash pickers who pickup the recycling bags when we put them out on Sunday night. They also pick up large items that have any value.

We put out a kitchen sink last week it was gone in minutes.

I need to get rid of a large (50 inch) TV from the 90s on a heavy base. Local charities I've tried refuse to pick it up. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this? I've seen them posted in the classifieds, but they don't seem to sell.
