Pistol Packing Kid
 

The Daily Sun had a small article in it that said a 2 year old boy in South Carolina was riding in the backseat of a car; found a loaded pistol, and shot his 40 year old Grandma - riding in the front seat - in the back. Grandma will survive (but probably never turn her back on the kid, again).

Investigators are trying to determine if the child was in a car seat or if gun laws were broken.

The child is claiming "Stand Your Ground".

Sounds very urban legend-ish or tall tale-ish.

Imagine a two year in or out of a car seat.....actual taking hold of a weapon....fiddling with it.....and somehow or other being able to hold, grip, point and pull the trigger....all maybe not in that order.

Most pistols are too big for their hands to be able to do much of anything.
Most pistols would have a 6-7 pound plus trigger pull....the span of the hand to reach the trigger while holding would be impossible.

now think of a little two year old sized hand being able to overcome all the above......

Possible? On a yes or no scale only......yes.

Probable? with the odds on the eighth decimal point of one percent....NO!

The article is on page A11 of today's Daily Sun (Oct. 13). It happened in Rock Hill, SC., and is from AP.

I read it and I still stand by my post #2 above.
All the police know is what they were told after being called to the scene and that is what is reported in the news.

The story does not hold together for reasons in my post. I could be convinced otherwise with additional accurate, information and a complete investigation.

The only thing that stops a bad 2 year old with a gun is a good 2 year old with a gun. Baby was exercising his 2nd amendment rights.

I have ask? Why was the pistol in the back seat close to the child. this should be child abuse case also. From neglect. Most states have laws requiring trigger guard around children?

It appears that this 2 year old is being used to cover up for an adult argument and one conducted at a adolescent stage or under the influence. I mean how does one interview a 2 year old? Anything is possible but if I were the investigating officer I might have more questions than answers

Since it took place in South Carolina, involved a 40 year old grandma, and a loaded pistol in a car - and maybe a child not in a car sear - I am assuming the story to be 100 percent true.

You jest, right?

Why would someone jest about 204 accidental shootings by children?

Why would someone jest about a loaded .357 in the back pouch of a car instead of being in the trunk, glovebox, or console - with a two year old child in the backseat?

Accidents happen. That's why they call them accidents. Almost all accidents could have been avoided. That's why the gov nanny felt it needed to create OSHA. An accidental discharge by a gun does not warrant stricter laws or banning guns. It just means that folks need to understand gun safety techniques and practice them. There are objects that you have to keep out of the hands of children, such as guns, knives, poison, medications, cleaning products, and hot items. Being careless can cost lives.

It was an unfortunate accident. Oh well, and life goes on for the rest of us. Perhaps, we have learned a lesson from this. You can bet that the victim did.

Thank Goodness! I thought you were going to say 204 purposeful shootings by children. Then, I would have been alarmed.

A gun's no good if it is unloaded.

ZZZZZZZZZzzzziiinnngggg...that is called missing the point totally and completely!!!! I hate to always have to clarify for those who either don't get it or blow by a point to make theirs.
