Yes, it was just a mistake, but can you imagine if a Republican said this?? We would never hear the end of it.

SALLYJO...had to say it but IMHO had Gov Palin or Sen McCain done this,there would be many many more posts on here and the usual cracks about whatever.

Yes it was an unfortunate mistake and as I said I really felt for Sen Biden.

Well really....he wasn't like he was looking right at the guy, seeing him in a wheelchair and telling him to stand up. Perhaps he didn't know he was in a wheelchair....

please we have all made mistake and yes Bucco I felt bad for Biden too....

My guess is Sally Jo that no one would have said anything if a republican had done this...after watching the video...very clear that it was a mistake....

If Palin or McCain or even Obama could fix it as fast as Biden then I would be impressed....he is a real gentleman and would never intentionally do that...

SALLYJO's point was right on. READ THE SLAMS ON GOV PALIN ALONE. Then add the shots at Sen McCains age, etc. WOW...you have very selective reading skills !

Again I posted this as something worthy to see, not as a critique but dont be so naive....the comments on Gov Palin's family alone and her mothering skills....etc make your post just not valid !

You even said you felt bad for him....yes he should have been prepared! He probably felt horrible....as he should....but I was just trying to human about it!!

It's clear that Joe Biden made a mistake and took complete control of the situation in a very elegant way. I applaud him. :clap2:

I do believe Biden handled the gaffe beautifully. I also believe that his staff did a very poor job of prepping him if they had the name of the state senator but didn't mention any physical issues.

As to what would have been said had the gaffe been Palin's, we don't know. She may have been given credit for handling the error with style and grace (and I do believe she would have been able to do that). She may have been blasted out of the water.

Whatever the case, Biden made a mistake, he recovered and turned the mistake into a class act.

I am sure Senator Biden was as embarrased as can a person can be. He handled it in a very polished and professional manner. He made a mistake. He is human. I am a republican, he is a democrat. We are both human.

My sister asked a woman who works at the bank when her baby was due.

The woman was not pregnant. (She was wearing one of those most unattractive, though quite fashionable I guess, babydoll tops. It sure looked like a hatchin' jacket to my sister who may never go into that bank again.)

Cassie...dont want to discuss this any longer, but to my knowledge there are no posts here about Sen Obama personally or his family.....no posts EXCEPT for those defending Gov Palin about Sen Biden personally or his family.

There ARE MANY posts here about Sen McCain and Gov Palin PERSONALLY and their families even...that is what Sallyjo made the comment about. !!!!!

I am cringing with embarassment for Sen Biden. He certainly tried hard to smooth over his error and I applaud him for that. I bet all of us have said or done something we instantly regret.

Politicians, like all of us, are imperfect human beings. Let's give them all, Dem and Republican, some slack!
