Why doesn't Greenspan shut up???
I wish he would stay in retirement. He is spouting off about this being a "once in a century" financial crisis. Wall Street will most likely be a disaster tomorrow. Lehman is going down the tubes. This is the scariest time I have ever seen.
Remember when we had to hide under our school desks in case of nuclear attack? Maybe our sorry :swear:government will come up with something similar to help us get through this. Greenspan and his policies helped put us where we are right now. Go away, Mr Greenspan. We know how bad things are and your remarks don't enlighten us or make things better. Maybe Sarah taking us into war with Russia will help. Sorry for the rant. I have been reading all the financial news for tomorrow and am not a happy camper. |
Duck & Cover
Agree totally, why doesn't he just shut up?
Meanwhile hope this link comes through. Classic 50's video on how to hide under your desk, or "How I learned to fear the BOMB in first grade" http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-60790 |
 Huge ego. A person with that size ego can't stay out of the limelight for long.
|
I'm sure Greenspan must realize that his public comments make things worse and not better. It is just wrong and irresponsible. :swear: I hate it when the media grab on to a "gloom and doom" comment. It just makes everyone panic and things get worse.

Whalen, thanks for the link.
Now I know why I had nightmares as a child. That video is unbelievable when viewed today. But I do remember its lesson well, and it really did give me nightmares. Actually Greenspan does too. |
I'm in New York City this week on business. Actually saw Lehman employees carting boxes in Midtown last night. Agree totally about Greenspan. I feel like I want to be an ostrich today. It will not be pretty. The last two posts I've made have disappeared in the threads.

Fortunes will be made
by those courageous enough to buy in these crazy markets. No one can predict a bottom and I fear we are in very deep water and still being pulled out to sea.
I am going to start venturing in, though. We will see. I know when I dip that toe in, the water will be frigid. You get used to it though..and it generally warms up. |
Not as bad as I expected, but the close could be ugly.
|
We all know that it will be a rough road away for us. Greenspan does not need to tell us that. He has retired and needs to move over and on.
|
I heard sometime ago he has a book and the more he talks (good bad or ugly) the more books he might sell.
|
Since he retired I am sure he no longer gets the financial intelligence he was being supplied with prior to his retirement. He is now giving opinions which because of his previous position are listened to more than they probably should. SO i agree with Samhass.......Shuddap already. Book or no book. shaddap!:clap2:
|
Many people are famous for making fools of themselves after they retire , so don't be to surprised by what some of these clowns say ...
You can bet some publisher said to him " write a book and than say something scandalous to the media and you'll make a ton of money", Many retired people say things that they will regret later . (example, chels23, cassie 6 7/8 , etc.etc. fume |

The difference is when we say something we may regret later, world economies aren't affected by it...or won't react because of it.

Greenspan
Agree, Greenspan is part the cause. Some of us get older and wiser, and some of us just get older !!!
