I think I have revised my position on path striping.
 

I don't go out in the golf cart after dark, but today I did. I guess the daylight savings time bagged me. I was at Spanish Springs when God flipped a switch and it got dark. I had a hell of a time coming home due to car headlights on El Camino Real and Buena Vista. I thought that maybe when I got to District 4, it would be better, but I could barely see the faded yellow center stripes. Maybe we do need white stripes along the sides after all. When I lived in England, I bought a pair of yellow driving glasses and it was unbelievable how much better I could see at night, but my solution will be to not get caught out after dark in the golf cart again.

Put new headlights on your cart. You know years ago you were not allowed out after dark. I guess they wanted to sell more beer.

OP, I recently drove my golf cart at night from Brownwood to the Village of LaBelle via Bunea Vista Blvd, Hillsborough Trail and Moyer Loop while using two tunnels along the way without any issues. I have not driven the route you travelled.

As you know, in south TV, we do not have center lines or white line side striping. I will say, we have a relative new golf cart with led headlights and perhaps that makes a bit of difference.

I am surprised that the yellow center striping has faded so quickly in District 4. Some are concerned about the cost of maintenance of the striping of the trails over time.

You could buy another pair of yellow glasses, but you already have the solution.

The yellow center stripping hasn't faded all that much, but when you got halogen headlights in your eyes and glare you don't see much anything, you are blinded by the lights! BV pretty well lite in district 4 at night. The strips show up just fine.

I won't take the cart after dark if I will have to go through tunnels.

When we were in our teens driving after a few beers, got home safely because we followed the painted lines in the fog….thank god no cars coming toward us doing the same thing :-)

My headlights light up the tunnels with no problem. Do you not have lights on your cart?

When I'm driving my cart during the day the sun is in my eyes.

The tunnels are not as much of an issue for me as those lights from oncoming traffic - combined with the curves of the path in that section. I am thinking of buying a new cart and one thing I will want is some better lighting if that will help. That section of road has always been hard to deal with at night, and since that is my home turf......guess I start going to dinner at 3:30 to beat the time change...

Even the street legal golf carts have inadequate lighting. I used to own a licensed/registered Parcar NEV. Terrible headlights.

I can't comments much on the MMPs south of 466 because of my limited driving in this area at night. But what I have observed is the MMPs are not as "dark" because the landscaping has not grown up and over the MMPs. The ambient light from the street lighting illuminates the paths. The area mentioned by VC is much different! There is lots of vegetation from landscaping growing out along the MMPs. Also, on El Camino there are sections of the MMP which is less than 5 feet from the street. Oncoming cars as well as golf carts can blind you.

I don't want to get into the merits of striping again, but this is an area that could benefit by improved visibility along the MMPs be it striping or other methods.

The problem on El Camino was that as I was coming home (towards Buena Vista), the oncoming traffic was nearest to me and low beams are dipped to the right in the USA (and all countries that drive on the right). This aimed the lights in my direction. Had I been travelling the other direction, I don't think I would have had such a problem. I wasn't aware of the right dip thing until I took my 1962 Triumph TR4 to England in the late 80s. In order to pass their Ministry of Transport (MOT) test, I had to replace my headlights with left dip versions and when I brought the car back to USA, I had to reverse the process.

I love those TR4's. I had one now.

I had a TR250 and a GT6+. The latter I drove quite a bit.
