Clock Repair

Hi Everyone;

Do any of you in TV know of a clock repair service in the area? Perhaps a retired clockmaker doing a small side business? I have an antique mantel clock that needs service. I don't want to drop it off at some unknown shop and leave it for weeks until they get around to looking at it. It has heavy sentimental value.

As always, any guidance will be highly appreciated.

Look in the Daily Sun classified section. There is a watchmaker who advertises to fix clocks.

Bogie Shooter -

I tried that and couldn't see anything. Perhaps I just missed it or he missed a day. I'll keep an eye out. Meanwhile, if anyone else knows someone I'd appreciate the info.

Thanks,

Look for an established jeweler or check with an antique dealer for a recommendation.

784caroline;

Are we getting different versions of the Daily Sun or are my eyes beginning to miss things? --- I hope neither is true.

I called Arden Jewelers in LSL and June found an old rolodex card (don't you miss those?) and referred me to a gentleman who lives in Ocala. I called and spoke with this very pleasant man who has been working on antique clocks for over 40 years as a hobby (he's 83 now). He no longer travels but invited me, and my clock, to visit his home which I did last Saturday. He is a retired executive of a major tire company as well as a real estate developer. His garage has a complete clock repair facility built in. He is VERY knowledgeable and absolutely charming to talk with.

Anyway, he pretty quickly determined that my treasured mantel clock probably just needs a good cleaning (it's been 5 years) so he is now working on it for me.

If anyone would like his name and phone number please drop me a PM. I'd rather not put this information in a general message since he only wants to work on 2 or 3 clocks at a time.

Thanks again everyone for your input.

I think their is only one version of the Daily Sun...and their was an ad in todays Sun as well for Clock Repair. However it sounds like you found the right guy. Letme know how it turns out and if you are pleased with the work and price send me his information!
