I am not trying to start trouble...just trying toeducate myself...so please do not YELL or GROAN....

I read that the Palin's were taken out of TV's yesterday in 4 military helicopters....is this true....and if so....do our tax dollars pay for all security of those nominated? They are not on US payroll yet...shouldn't they hire their own security? This is for all parties...not just Palin....

Whenever government assets are used in campaign activities, the cost for the use of those assets is reimbursed to the government. As an example, whenever the President travels on Air Force One on party business, the costs associated with that aircraft and the support logistics are paid from private sources. The same holds true for any other government asset.

Steve....thank you for the information....I was truly just seeking fact....and you provided. Those of you that laughed make me sick...shame on you. Do you think every person in the country knows the answer without asking...atleast I asked...instead of assuming....

I saw the four choppers and it appeared that they headed for the Morse estate. The day before
I stood outside my front door listening to gunfire coming out of that same area. It sounded like shotguns...not semi or automatic gunfire.

I saw the four copters, also, and wondered if they were in them. I thought they were heading towards Orlando.

I thought all the candidates were protected by the FBI and that seems the easiest way to get her out of what sounds like a huge traffic jam and making it worse. Maybe I am wrong about that.

Secret Service Protection
 

I seem to recall that following the shootings of Robert Kennedy and George Wallace in the 60s, Presidential candidates have the protection of the Secret Service on the campaign trail.

Tkret, wasn't the secret service protecting Bobby that night? I thought so, but I could be wrong. Didn't they escort him through the kitchen, wasn't the story something like that? A very strange and upsetting incident to say the least. He was my hero.

They came from the hospice area and went low into the area off 466 across from the golf front homes in Bridgeport Lake Sumter. They were headed northeast.

FYI......interesting site re: secret service

I heard from a good source that TV rallies/visits by political candidates are because of the Morses' political support and large contributions. The candidates usually visit and/or dine with the Morses while they are here which would explain the helicopters.
