Bad Accident 466A & Morse B'lvd

Yep, the snow birds are back, its demolition derby time. My wife just reported to me -she saw a bad accident on 466A & Morse. Come'on guys the lawyers need the work, so do the body shops-Christmas is coming & they gotta keep their elves employed .

So do the funeral homes, you know people are dying to get in--avoid the Holiday rush-crash now

Accidents are a fact of life, a sometimes tragic one at that. Let's hope this bad accident did not have serious consequences

We have only been here since the end of June we noticed a big difference right after labor day. Not sure why so many people are in a hurry??More people means more accidents that is for sure. Hope everyone slows down and arrives safe!!

And how do you know a snowbird was involved?

Fredster 11-09-2015 04:41 PM

I drove over in that area this morning, and on my way I encountered a number of drivers that really were in a rush and doing a lot more mph than posted limits.
I wondered why so many are in a rush around here, Can't say it was all snowbirds either, don't really know. In general I have noticed a lot of people tailgate and seem to be in a hurry in TV.

The car had NY tags, maybe Michigan, could be Ontario--get the picture-only a newbie or a person who is not here full time-rushes thru that intersection

Or somebody on vacation and just passing thru.......

I rarely drive through that intersection in a car, but, went under the tunnel twice today in my golf cart. Both times, I noticed a long line of cars heading west on 466A wanting to turn left onto Morse. I wondered if they all made it on one left turn light cycle. I can see where that can be ripe for accidents. Hope there were no serious injuries today.

Newbie or not a full-timer? How about not even a resident of the Villages and just a routine, run-of-the-mill driver?

What's your rationale for the accidents and fatal accidents during the year when sbowbirds are not present?

sharoni 11-09-2015 05:50 PM

Hear sirens going off all day long...Went by right after the accident, 3 cars involved. In my opinion, they need to allow cars to turn left ONLY when they have the green arrow. You can't always see past the line of cars across from you, and I think this causes a lot of the accidents. Allowing drivers to turn left when you have two lanes of traffic coming at you, bad idea. That intersection, and others are too large and cars are turning right on red, in front of those left turning cars. That is what it looks like happened today. Slow down everyone and that would also help...

A sense for the dramatic? Certainly not facts. [emoji848]

goodtimesintv 11-09-2015 06:02 PM

Hmmmm.

Which is worse:

Snowbirds who might have an accidental collision once in all the time they've been here?

Or.....

Frogs who are prejudiced all the time against people they don't know, have never seen, and could not identify even if they walked into the room right now?

I'll take the snowbirds. Any day.

I enjoy our seasonal neighbors as well. TV wouldn't be the same without them.

I'm ready!

Morse and 466a

This is an extremely dangerous intersection. I can recall several major accidents there this year alone. Cars shouldn't be permitted to turn left once the turn-arrow goes dark.
