Which of the Regional Centers do you like or use the most?
We are considering moving to The Villages next year. We were just there for a few days in November and learned there are some fairly large Regional Centers (Eisenhower, Colony Cottage, Seabreeze, Lake Miona, Savannah, etc) that have larger pools and more activities.
Which of these Centers do you like or use the most? |
It really depends on the activity and what's offered. I like water volleyball at Seabreeze and Colony Cottage and cribbage at Mulberry. I like backgammon at Laurel Manor. It just depends what activities are being offered and where...

Most regional site are close and most offer the same things just different times. I like seabreaze, the decor and the bathroom is just pretty. We are equal distance from seabreaze and colony, and not far from minna

Asianthree has made an excellent point. The regional rec centers are well distributed so they are quite close. And by golf cart or car they can all be accessed for any activity you you choose. When we bought our home the closest regional rec Ctr wasn't even a consideration. So I would recommend that you buy the house you want, where you want, and the rec centers will fall into place for you.

Excellent advice. Perhaps this new person doesn't know that ALL rec centers are open to ALL villagers, just as ALL Country Clubs are, and their adjacent restaurants. |
Thank you for all of your responses. You have helped us understand a little more about how The Villages operates. You will probably be seeing a lot more questions from us.

My recommendation is to see them all. Each is unique and fun to just walk around and look. Everytime we have visitors for the first time, I make a point to stop and many of them regional centers and have everyone walk in and see. Trust me, you won't be disappointed and it will give you an opportunity to see for your self what an interesting place The Villages is.

But probably most residents use the Center closest to them if the activity they want is available. In our case, we use Laurel Manor most often. However I would never choose a home location because of a Regional Rec Center. I think there are way more important considerations - locations of banks, grocery stores, libraries, big box stores, dog parks, restaurants, golf courses, town squares, etc. |
I look for activities at Colont and Seabreee and Miona because they are closest, but I go to Paradise for book club. It all depends on what's offered

People are drawn to the new modern homes, and I can understand why because the finishes are just beautiful; however, I know of several homes in older established neighborhoods closer to their lifestyle locations, that have been completely gutted and rebuilt to the home owners personal requirements and they are over the top gorgeous. If I was asked for my recommendation, it would be to rent here for a few weeks and scout out TV from top to bottom to see what suits your needs the most. |
