New Shell Station On 466A
I gassed uo in Leesburg while running some errands today. I paid $3.46 a gallon at a Shell station on 441. When I drove by he new Shell station near Publix on 466A their sign said $3.69 a gallon.
Holy cats! More than a 20-cent premium? For what? Isn't "premium pricing" like this which lead to the Chevron station going belly-up in the same location? When I drove by there were no cars gassing up. I'm not surprised. |
Didn't we determine that the Chevron went out of business because he couldn't sustain the very high rental price the village was charging him.?? So where do you think he's gonna make up this additional cost??
Do we want to support our local retailers or drive an extra few miles and spend more cash just to save a few bucks. I, for one, am going to support my local stores and services in order to keep my lifestyle in TV the way I'd like it. If it means a few more dollars for tips, or an extra few more dollars for a tank of gas, I'm for it. The convenience is priceless and my lifestyle is more important than a few bucks.... |
We are Hemingway and on our last visit went to the Shell station twice for fuel and ice. Yes it is a few cents more but it is sure nice having it there.

Kathi, I agree. When I was at TV last visit in September our last day was when They had the big gas shortage. My tank was only 1/4 full and I had to drive back to Ft. Myers next morning. I quickly got out of the pool and went on a mission to find fuel. All the stations on 466 were out of fuel, but the new shell on 466a was going strong. I certainly won't quibble about a few cents after that experience. We should support our local businesses because without them TV would not be such a wonderful place to live.

gas
We would gladly pay that for gas. Here in NW Indiana gas is still 3.89.9 a gallon. Even though oil has dropped significantly price of gas has not. We have paid as high as 4.69 a gallon. We can't wait til we get to our house on the villages to pay less.shighsmi

High Price at 466A Shell
Twenty cents a gallon difference is too much for me to pay. I read about supporting our local business. Aren't gas stations in Fruitland Park, Lady Lake, etc in our local business area?.
|
We too prefer to support our nearest commercial neighbors, though I would have to agree that 23¢ more per gallon is a bit much. We don't live on the 466A side of TV. Our nearest gas station is right out the Lynnhaven Gate on 301. It's a Citgo station, and when we needed gas last month just before leaving for Copenhagen, it was the only station that (a) was pumping gas as usual and (b) hadn't jacked its prices up in light of that temporary shortage as we later heard the stations in Wildwood (and possibly others in the area?) had done.
