Christmas treats from my kitchen!!

Hi all:

I've been making Christmas treats this morning. I made 13 bags of sweet/spicy sugared almonds and 4 batches of chocolate walnut fudge. I put it in packs and give it out to my friends each Christmas. Has anyone else made anything? Here's a photo.

They look delightful. Where do you get those cone shaped bags?
I used to make Challah bread at Christmas because the braid looked so nice and I had a wonderful recipe. We'd just rip off a part of the braid instead of cutting the loaf. I'd get 3 small braids from a one loaf recipe. Made them for everyone I knew.

I bought the bags on Amazon. Just do a search for cone shaped bags. You can find so many cute treat bags on Amazon. The bread sounds delicious. I would love for someone to give me a homemade loaf of bread. mmmmm

I made my treats and gave most of them away. I had to make two batches of Peppermint Patties because they were that good, lol.

Here are the pics:

Sadly my cookies came out a bit flat but still tasted good. It was not one of my better years:

My husband is the only person in the world who loves fruitcake. I use a recipe from the grandmother of an Australian blogger I follow. I don't have a picture because he's been through two of them since Thanksgiving. They weigh, oh, 20 pounds apiece.

Love all your pictures, ylisa7!

Those cookies sound quite wonderful, especially the peppermint patties......

The only peppermint patties I know how to make have just two ingredients: Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Schnapps......well, maybe a third ingredient, a little whipped cream on top.

Yum. I just drooled all over my keyboard.

Fudge? I'll beg for fudge. I really am a pretty decent cook but absolutely hate, loathe and despise baking. So, my homemade treats are things like marinated mushrooms, cheese straws, anything that doesn't require measuring or using a candy thermometer. Anyone want to trade some shrooms for walnut fudge?

I really loved baking all those cookies; however, last year I realized they really are the kiss of death for my continuous battle of the bulge so this year tried something new - an orange/walnut flavored biscotti. Still in the process of making this (there are several steps) but so far so good.

Sounds good Pru. If you were still here I would have brought you a plate of fudge and almonds.
