Trade iRobot Dirt Dog Robot Sweeper for Dog Stroller
 

A friend donates money to animal rescues and doesn't have extra to spend on a dog stroller. Has an iRobot Dirt Dog robot sweeper with charger to trade for a like new dog stroller. The Dirt Dog robot sweeper would need a new battery, as the unit has not been used very much and the battery probably does not work from just sitting around not charged. Anyone interested in swapping?

I don't mean any offense but why would a dog stroller be at the top of priorities for a person who is short on cash? I had a small dog and no stroller. I didn't even know such a thing existed at the time.

Is a dog stroller ever a necessity? While we're on the topic, what really IS the purpose of a dog stroller? Wouldn't exercise be good for the pup?

Again, no offense, but it strikes me as an attention-getting mechanism. (For the owner, not the dog).

I have a small dog and use a dog stroller....I often see people staring at me thinking "why don't you walk your dog, it's healthier for her?" My 11 1/2 year old little girl is leaking fluid from her kidneys into her abdomen and was given 2 weeks to live...that was 71 weeks ago today. I've taken her to many vets, even to Gainesville to a specialist and have spent over 6 thousand dollars but there's nothing they can do to fix it. She loves to get out and about so I bought a stroller for her so that I don't put any unnecessary stress on her organs walking her. She's had 7 downfalls in the past 71 weeks and each time I fear omg, this is it, I'm going to lose her, but tada.....she's one tough little girl and bounces right back....she isn't ready to leave me yet. If you saw her you'd think nothing is wrong...she plays, eats, drinks, pees, and poops....she's one happy little girl. She'll let me know when it's time but in the mean time, I'm gonna keep on doing what I'm doing. Anyway, my point is if you see someone pushing their dog around in a stroller, please don't make any assumptions........You just never know.

She is blessed to have such a caring person as you. I hope she continues to do well.

I just wanted to say thanks for asking Villageswimmer. Strollers are often used for dogs that have heart conditions and cannot walk very far, for dogs that get tired easily, for dogs that have broken legs, for dogs that have various medical issues. The owner still wants their dog to get out and get fresh air and some sunshine and to be with them while they take their walk. So it isn't much different than a husband rolling his wife along in a wheelchair while they enjoy the husband's walk together.

To address your other question. The person is not poor. They choose to donate money to rescues and shelters to help the animals. So they don't see spending money on a stroller when they have an item around their house that they could offer in trade. Why waste money buying a stroller if someone would be willing to do a trade? More people should trade items and spend the money they save to help animals or whatever their charitable passion is. Makes sense to me.

We have a small Maltese and our last dog was a Teacup Poodle.On the very rare occasion that we need to take him to a public place, we always take the stroller. It's so much safer for him there, people stepping on him or a larger dog attacking him. The Teacup Poodle was attacked by several larger dogs for just walking by. I don't condemn anybody for taking their dog in a stroller to a public place, I just wish more people did.
