It's a BEAR out there....

My friends are regular golfers on Sunday mornings on Hacienda golf course.
Last week, one gal was convinced there was bear scat on the course. She is from the Midwest and is quite familiar with bear scat. Has this been noted this close to the thick of TV population by anyone else you have heard of recently??? I have not seen any bear here but my husband has. However, it was closer to Brownwood area than Hacienda.
Just asking. It was about 10:30 AM.
Yogi can be around I suppose. I don't want to meet him.
Safe, peaceful, unarmed New Year to all. (if you read the tic about DD in Brownwood you will get the unarmed reference).
Peace. Somehow it works.

A few months ago, mid October, my brother said he saw a bear cub on the median strip of 441/27 near the golf cart bridge.

Not surprised about this because bear sightings are going on all over the state as the habitat shrinks for them.

Bear there

Playing in the spring, I also saw scat on one fairway at Cane Gardens/Hibiscus. Excuse the disgusting description, but the pile had some undigested berries in it. I got a pretty good look since my ball nearly landed in the mess. At first, I thought bear, then remembered wild pigs also eat plant matter, and they have been known to hang around that area Whatever, I was glad it had finished its business before I got there.

I hope you played the ball as it lied:1rotfl:

Yogi and Boo-Boo are fine---it's the less domesticated bears that could pose a problem. But if I do encounter one of those, I want the guy from DD with a Glock in my foursome

Google Florida Bear Scat. Looks like generic poop to me. I haven't seen any bears. Anyone seen any for sure before we run off with another rumor?

A couple of years ago a photo was put on TOTV of a "supposed bear" in the Village of Winifred who was digging into a garbage can. Strange nobody else saw it and a number of those posting considered it a hoax.

It's probably the coyotes, now the smartest mammal on Earth after breeding with grey wolves, disguising their poop as that of bear to divert attention:1rotfl:

Most likely, if they are from TV, you will be able to count on at least two of them. The strange looking grip on the 15th club is a dead give-away.

Do a search on the online newspaper that we cannot link to for this headline, "Bears spotted Saturday morning on Rolling Acres Road and CR 466". It was last January, a good size bear sitting in the tree across from VFW next to the apartments that are also on the southside of the road.

I can link to this story, there is a photo of a bear in the Village of Winifred, it was posted July 2012. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...51/index9.html

It only makes sense that we would see bears around here since there is quite a few bears in Silver Springs State Park east of Ocala and were always getting news reports about bears in trees in Orlando. We just happen to be along their route.

A little over a year ago there was a mama bear with a cub hanging around a Lady Lake hair salon.

It was right next to the Christian Food Pantry where many Villagers volunteer. I saw the two bears in a large live oak tree in the hair salon's front yard. The bears were staying there because of large amounts of acorns as well as trash bins from nearby apartments.

They finally left and moved on.

Yes, there have been Black Bears in the Villages before, 2 years ago we had one in our neigbors yard in Fernandina and took pictures, and later a bear was seen hanging around the trash dumpster by Bonifay. They have been known this time of year to wander through the villages at night in search of food/

American Legion Post 347 is at corner of Rolling Acres and 466.
