Christmas Golf "what is fairest"
What do you think is the fairest way to have golfers line up and to start?
1. one person in the foursome shows up puts their name in and calls friends to join them after waiting maybe up to an hour and a half. 2. to secure your place in the line all four of your group needs to be there. |
All or nothing!! MHO

Go the night before and park your cart at the starter shack. Tie a ribbion or rope
Around the cart an come back in the morning........hey it works on the squares. :evil6: |
To me the answer (policy) is owned by the event organizer.
When I came of age and was given the privilege of joining my Dad's weekend get away group they were playing at Cranberry Valley in MA. You had to get a time the day of play... and you could not call in. There were three foursomes. Two guys would get to Cranberry at some 'indecent' hour and get three tee times. Other would make breakfast, I would stay at my girlfriends home in Centerville until they told me what time to arrive :). PS. Same girl still puts up with me ducking out for golf today! |
I know if the starter sees this ...those folks wouldn't be allowed to play if they cut in line. This at Bonifay CC and probably any of them.

Do you know someone that works at Bonifay?

I think the key is golfers, from what I have heard, lots of non golfers show up so have no idea why you want to fight all that stuff......just because it's free I guess, it is The Villages.

Have a shotgun start. A few posters here could supply the hardware[emoji6]

The question was just meant for Christmas Day free golf. Should of been clearer.

foursomes only
If you are less than a foursome wait until you have a foursome in the parking lot before you get on line. |
#2.

How about a USGA GHIN verifiable handicap of 5 or less? But seriously, I would still enforce the age 14 or 11 with pro approval rule.

First come, first serve.
The only year I went on Christmas day was 2011 at Bonifay. I arrived at 7:00am and was 23rd cart in line and they only had 18 holes open, Pensacola was still closed. When I asked the first cart what time they arrived, they said 4:30am. I ended up teeing off at 7:30 because I was a single and #5 in line was also a single. I mentioned this in an earlier thread, just go about 1:00 and you should have clear sailing. I'm use to teeing after 11:56 (second wave start time) in the summer because of the reduced green fees. So going early was something new to me anyway. |
