I am coming out of the closet
 

I have been a registered Republican all my life. I ran campaigns for Republican candidates for US Congress, New York State Senate, New York State Assembly and a slew of local races. I ran for office on the Republican ticket and considered a run for US Congress as a Republican. To this day, five years after leaving, I still get calls from ranking Republicans in New York seeking my opinion on various candidates.

Gulp!!!! Unless something dramatic happens to change my mind, I am on the verge of voting for Barack Obama. (duck and cover)

I have not made up my mind yet who to vote for. No use rushing into things.

I have been very vocal about how I feel about Sen Obama but everyone has their own opinions and rights to them. No duck and cover needed for this poster and I hope you are happy 3 years after the election because then maybe I will be, but I have my serious serious doubts, but congratulations on coming out of the closet anyway :)

OMG...this is truly the funniest post/thread I have seen in a long time. Not that politics are funny...well sometimes they are...but your title certainly caught my attention...and I am still laughing!!!

While you are ducking, be consoled by the fact that the respect folks have for you already, as well as the strength of your convictions to change past belief and practice, will probably sway a number of others who are still deciding.

I am a retired LTC from US Army. 41 years more or less. I will be voting and campaigning for Obama. The republicans, while talking a good line, have repeatedly betrayed our troops and lied to us about why we are fighting. It is time we say no more of this.

Will state up front that I was for Hillary and toyed around with voting for McCain back when, but then something happened. I was on Broadway in the
city and was approached by two young women campaigning for Obama, they were engaging, well informed so I stopped and listened. Soon after my next door neighbor Frankie, who I have known since he was 3 was off to Pennsylvania to knock on doors to get out the vote and was campaigning for Obama. Frankie is 19 years old, has taken a semester off from the American University in Washington and is still in northwestern PA as the National Obama Coordinator for Warren County. So I sat down and thought about this, if some one can inspire this generation to service and become engaged in the process it might be time to pass the baton. I know this post will probably open up a flood gate of protest, so be it. I swore I would never post in the Political but I did so have at it.
BTW did you know that William F. Buckly, son of William F Buckley, Jr. founder of the National Review has endorsed Obama?

Don't be scared....good to jump right in...I like your attitude and while I am an Obama voter as well....I wouldn't say it is time to pass the baton!!

There are many, many men and woman working on both campaigns here in TV's and all over the country of all ages. Hang on to the baton....vote for who you believe in....perhaps instead of passing it on....you share it!! Thanks for posting...no flood gates opened yet!!

This was so nice to read. My dear husband and I have been having heated arguments regarding the election MUCH LIKE THE TOTV POLITICAL FORUM. We are both registered Republicans.....he always, me a one time Independent. I am voting for Sen. Obama and he for Sen. McCain. Personally, I doubt anyone person can fix what is wrong with this country, I can only pray that what is great about this country will prevail.

I am a registered Republican and have voted Republican my entire life, but this election I am voting for Obama.

This is the most confusing and conflicting election in memory. I really want to believe that Obama isn't just another pol in sheep's clothing but then when he speaks, it just doesn't sound genuine. McCain is clealy a politician first. I feel like I'm being conned by both sometimes - well, most of the time. I'll eventually make up my mind and vote for the one I think will do the least damage to the country.

A retired LTC of 41 years voting for Obama? No need to even have the election. Obama wins easily after reading this. I feel that I'm in the same boat as Jan and Bill, lifelong republican who thinks that both sides are giving us crap. My vote won't really count since Mass. ALWAYS votes Democrat and this time will be no different.

I'll raise a toast to the new president - Barack Obama - and wish him well.

i will be voting Obama also, decided it last night watch the news. I feel more at ease when listening to him talk,, alot of talk on i hope you feel that way after a few years. But the same was said when i voted for Bush, can be no worse. and alot of people said if you vote for Kerry you will be sorry. look at us now, and i didnt vote for Kerry......
