Stay in Washington DC?
 

What do you know about DC? Are there any safe areas to stay? What about Union Station area? I'd like to be near the train station and walk to the Smithsonian museums. Thoughts?

There is only one nice hotel near Union Station. It's maybe 4 blocks from Union Station. I've been retired 10 years and can't remember it's name. I'll see if I can find it for you or email some DC friends.

I was thinking of the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. Hotels in DC are not cheap. One review said that the hotel has a museum package but remember the Smithsonian is free. It is very easy to get around DC on the Metro. Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, you might want to do a search on DC or the District of Columbia on TOTV. Someone asked about places to visit in DC and I responded with a lengthy post on places to see.
