The Revenant.

The Revenant (2015) - Rotten Tomatoes

This was very crowded this afternoon so I went to the Hateful Eight instead.

What did you think of it? I mean The Revenant?

Interested to see if anyone saw The Man In the Wilderness and the Revenant. How do the compare?

As I recall there was a similar movie to the Revenant made in the 1970's titled Jeremiah Johnson starring Robert Redford that was quite a good movie. so I will be looking forward to viewing The Revenant

Two friends saw it and found it painfully long. Said they were ready to leave after the first 30 min. Told me Not to bother going.

The Hateful Eight is even longer with a great deal off dialog. You really have to like Quentin Tarantino's work to enjoy it.

I saw the Revenent.
"one that returns after death or a long absence"
That's a new word for me.
There is a "fighting a bear scene" that is very graphic and makes you squirm. It's so real you can feel the claws. It's about man's inhumanity to man in 1820 out west. Sometimes it's personal and sometimes it's just one tribe hating another.

The entire film I knew it was DiCaprio. There are some actors and some films where I get so envolved in the story I forget who the actors are. To me,DiCaprio, except for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, is always DiCaprio.

I saw The Revenant and really enjoyed it. Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy did some great acting. It was long, but the time passed quickly for me. The cinematography is breathtaking! It is similar to the old Robert Redford film, Jeremiah Johnson which I also enjoyed at the time. Both are realistic and brutal, but those were brutal times and reflect a brutal culture.

Here's a list of survival films.

They seemed to have missed some. Broken and In the Heart of the Sea both seem to be survival films as well.

Jermiah Johnson is one of my all-time faves and I've been on the fence about DiCaprio's latest. I'll be seeing it now, for sure! Thanks for the insight.

As a "Jermiah Johnson" fan I've got to see it.

I saw it tonight. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. It's long, about 2-1/2 hours but held my attention the whole time, never a dull moment. Makes you glad you weren't born in the 1800's. Leonardo is a great actor and seems to get better with every film. I gave the movie a 10 on IMDB.com.

Honest to goodness. After I saw that movies I thought it was wonderful how a boy with special needs learned all his lines. Johnny Depp was also in that movie. Both are great actors but after a Johnny Depp movie sometimes I need to look up which one was Depp. Watch Black Mass. Leonardo cannot seem to hide his looks.

feel the same

I feel the same way about DiCaprio. Also, Jack Nickloson....I'm always aware of the actor. Unlike a Meryl Streep or Johnny Deep where they seem to become the persons they are portraying.
