Although input from members here is welcome, you might also consider a larger internet search since this issue isn't unique to TOTV. Here's just one site with recommendations:

The Best Free Password Managers for 2016 | PCMag.com

They think highly of Lastpass.

I just started using the free version of Lastpass and it seems very good.
I'm thinking of going to their premium version which allows access across
all your devices, plus some other added features.
Has anyone gone to the premium, and what are your thoughts on it?

This is what MACWORLD has to say on the subject:

Yes, I have the premium. Began as a safety precaution for when I'm travelling. Wanted access via phone to financial resources should unexpected out-of-town/country illness require advance payment, etc.

The key is to have one STRONG password - that you can remember - to access your Lastpass info wherever you are.

At $12 a year, the premium is inexpensive protection against the thieves that are continually inventing ways to electronically rob you.

Thanks for the information!

I am always concerned about the password manager messing up and you can't access it for whatever reason. Then you can not get into anything because don't know the passwords. Agreed it would make life much easier. I think we will need a password to get past the Pearly Gates and into Haven !!!

While LastPass does store your encrypted passwords in the cloud such that if you could not get online, you wouldn't be able to use your passwords, it has an option to allow offline access which caches them locally on your device. It is worth noting that LastPass operates with a so-called TNO security model (trust no one) and so, even though your passwords are in the cloud and you'd think therefore vulnerable to being hijacked, they are encrypted locally on your machine before ever being uploaded (using your master password). So not even LastPass can recover them (since they also never get your master password either). If someone could get access to the passwords in the cloud AND could guess your master password, they could possibly decrypt them though (which is why its important to use a very strong master password and/or turn on one of the many multi-factor authentication methods that LastPass supports).

Anyway I've had LastPass premium for years and could not live without it.
