Walk in/Step in Tubs?
 

Hello.
I am my Mother's caregiver here in the Villages and I am starting to look into getting a walk in/step in tub for her, as climbing in and out of the tub has become difficult for her. Can anyone suggest a reputable company and maybe share your experience that you have had with one of these types of tubs. Pro's and Con's etc? Your help is greatly appreciated! Dave

I was thinking of one of these tubs-till I realized you have to sit it the water till it drains before you can get out

DUBNJ11, search the TOTV site, there was a previous thread on these devices, pros and cons, and maybe suppliers.

ours has a powered drain and empties in less than 2 minutes. My wife has CP and it's great for her but they are very expensive.

You also need to sit in it until it fills, and I suspect this will be several minutes or more. Not sure if they have figured out a way around that. I agree that the previous thread indicated these were very expensive.

I had to bump up the temp on the water heater to make sure she got enough hot water

We love ours, the jets are great and are even placed where you can put your feet on them for massage purposes. The seat is heated which keeps the water warm. Also, there is a mist function that is truly great for the skin.

What is a range of price?

If you goggle "walk in tub prices" you will get an idea of the price ranges, then you can contact local vendors and see what there prices are. Back up North, work like this required a permit, not sure here, but in any case, make sure installed is licensed, insured, and bonded.

I saw $4000 to $5000 all from Overstock, so that would not include installation, and I am GUESSING this will double the cost.
