Village Dreamer,
I order filters online around $20 each, no shipping. I also order the whirlpool filters on line about $25 or $30 each, package of 3.

Order online from where?

Put in a whole house water filter & you'll never have to touch your fridge water filter again

The light on the fridge is a timer --doesn't measure water usage

villagetinker 01-26-2016 09:12 AM

ChatBrat is correct, we have a whole house filter, and yes it is not necessary to replace the filter on the frig with one of these installed.
As for the A/C filter, we use FiltersUSA.com great prices and delivery. Use the part number on you existing filter to get exact replacement.

villagetinker 01-26-2016 09:13 AM

If you do not want the whole house filter, you can order the filter directly from Whirlpool, in lots of 3 at a discount.

All of the new houses have a Carrier air handler that takes a special filter that is only available at Ace Hardware.

The Filter is 19X20X4 but a standard 19x20x4 won't fit and if you use a standard filter of that size, your warranty will be voided.

I was told by a salesman at Ace that they were given notice to stock up on these filters.

Where did you hear the warranty would be voided if an air filter 1/4" too small was installed ?

tuccillo 01-26-2016 12:51 PM

Yes, the Carrier 4" media filters are an odd size: 19 1/8 x 19 13/16 x 4 5/16.

The OEM part numbers are:

FILXXFNC0021 for MERV 8
FILXXFNC0121 for MERV 11

They can be mail ordered for about $30. The good news is they will typically last a year.

Remember, these 4" filters last at least 6 Months. not the three months the fance 1" ones do. So, they cost more, but last longer.

Chatbrat 01-26-2016 01:17 PM

Munns services our air conditioner--a Merv 11 filter is good for 1 YEAR

You can get the 19 x 20 x 4 at Home Depot as well.

by a lot of different factors, to include pets in the home, smoking, etc. Bottom line is filters need to be replaced when they get dirty, not by a date.

I've been ordering mine from Amazon, last time was in 2014 a 3 pack of Merv 13, 16 X 20 X 4 with shipping was $38. The photo shows 2, but I got 3. I replace mine once a year, that's what the Munn's tech told me to do back in 2011. They've gone up to $42.99 for 3 pack, same ones I got because I searched my Amazon history, here's a link.

Nova filters the entire house and it really makes a difference. No need to change the refrig filter but if you like you can change it every two year. Cost of the Nova system is $495 installed. Replacement filters are around $70 for all three.
