This Minnesota Accent Face-Off is from The Late Show with Marie Bamford and Ariel Dumas.

I did not meet many people in the Twin Cities while I lived there from late August 1986 through the end of November 1991 who actually talked like this. I encountered many Minnesotans too while at the University of Minnesota. Maybe 2% actually sounded like this.

I was at the University of Minnesota Law School most of this time so most of the Minnesotans I met were either law students, law professors, library users, fellow Middlebrook Hall (a dorm) residents, or students in the Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and German courses I took at the U of MN. I did not finish most of these language courses as I kind of over-extended myself. I did finish the German and Dutch. But, most of the Minnesotans I encountered were students of some kind of the law or of various languages.
