My batteries are going on four years and I'm considering using ResureX battery additive which is advertised to dissolve hard sulfation on lead plates.

Has anyone tried any battery additives?

At 4 years I'm sure the batteries are reaching the end of their useful life. It wouldn't hurt to try the Resurrex but your best bet is new batteries. The problem is most likely sulfated or depleted plates.

I just had the same experience with 4 yr batteries and put in a new set. It's like I have a new cart.

BTW the best rejuventor I've heard of is EDTA. Here is a link that will explain:

Is there any benefit to putting this product in a new set of batteries, is it a preventative thing too?

I have order a product that removes battery sulfate buildup, so I'll see how it works. I purchased it on ebay and the customer replys are 99% positive.

My batteries are starting on their 4th year and hold about a 75% charge. And I have noticed that the meter drops off much quicker now. I figure I only have to get five extra months of use to offset the cost.

"Use ONLY distilled water in your batteries to ensure long life. Spring water, filtered water and tap water will eventually destroy you battery(s) due to the minerals/chemicals in the water".

Also, keep your batteries well charged. Even one discharge below 80% capacity will shorten the life of your batteries.

There's a guy in Fruitland Park who has a process of revitalizing Golf Cart Batteries. Costs $22.50 per battery and brings them back to 95-99% of their original capacity. Sounds too good to be true but he guarantees it for a year and he says many customers get an extra 2-3 years out of their golf cart batteries. If they fail within a year, you get $22.50 off each new battery.

Now if I can only remember his name!!! Anyone else know him?

And yes, anything but "distilled" water kills them.
