Burglars caught with Polish Passports

An alert villager who noticed something out of the way called law enforcement.

The following cut and pasted from the online news;

Two men with Polish passports who tried to steal $40,000 worth of silverware Friday afternoon in the Village of Winifred are behind bars.
An alert resident spotted a suspicious Dodge Durango driving on Alistar Court in the Village of Winifred shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday.
A witness advised Sumter County sheriff’s deputies that he saw a suspicious person walking up to a home in the 400 block of Kingston Way. The homeowner arrived home and confirmed her residence had been burglarized and an estimated $40,000 worth of silverware was stolen.
The driver of the Durango attempted to evade a squad car by driving up and down streets before eventually being pulled over on Walden Way in the Village of Winifred.
The driver of the Durango was identified as 39-year-old Zenon Szynkler by his Polish passport. He told the deputy he was staying in a Tampa hotel and had been looking for a place to fish.

The second suspect, 36-year-old Adamo Czerner was found by deputies inside Laurel Manor Recreation Center. He also had a Polish passport and told deputies he had dropped been off in the recreation center parking lot by a female who was going to look for a hotel room, then come back and get him.
The sheriff’s office’s blood hound tracking team had been on a track that led to the recreation center and stopped at the suspect’s feet.
Both men were placed under arrest and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center.
This morning, deputies retraced the blood hound track and discovered behind the residence a crow bar. They also discovered under some shrubbery a black bag with the stolen silverware inside.
The suspect’s vehicle was linked to an attempted burglary last week in The Villages. It is a rented car leased from Miami by an out-of-country person. The modus operandi fits similar burglaries The Villages had in February and March of 2015, said Lt. Bobby Caruthers.
“It is believed that this is part of a ring of ‘travelers’ who have been committing similar type crimes throughout the state,” Caruthers said.
The sheriff’s office earlier this week had warned residents about this type of activity. You can read about that warning HERE

IF I were to ever have $40,000 worth of silverware, it would be kept in a safe. I can't even imagine what $40,000 worth of silverware would look like. I must be from the wrong side of the tracks.

A link to gypsies/travelers/burglars from Palm Beach; This happened in 2013. I think we all need to keep an eye out for this kind of activity...even if we don't have a lot of silverware..............

Burglars caught with Polish Passports

Thanks for the heads up Gracie.

Perhaps the Polish bandits simply wanted to see how difficult it is to polish $40K of silverware.

They can now practice in the kitchen of the Sumter County jail.

They did not just pick this house at random. They had to have been tipped off that there was something worth stealing. It could be that this home owner displayed her family silverware in a cabinet where it would be seen by anyone either working in the house or even a cleaning company. There are still some very beautiful and very valuable tea and coffee services around, and it would be easy to want to use it for decoration on a server in the dining room.

I had a very good friend who had inherited a complete set of sterling flatware and dishes plus the serving dishes from both her grandmother and then her mother. She kept it packed away in boxes because very few people in this day and age sets a table with silverware serving dishes and even less wants to be bothered with cleaning silver. There are plenty of people who have inherited silverware in their homes, and hopefully most of it is out of sight.

So the point of my message is to try to know as much as you can about anyone who comes into your home to do work for you.
