Question about electric
I'm a new owner and will be living part time in TV. What happens when there is a storm ( or other reason) and electric power goes off.
1) does the power just go right back on?? Or 2) does it trip the power breaker and need to be manually reset?? My worry is how long can you have no air movement in the house before you experience some issue like mold? I understand that home watch services are available but if the person does not come into the house for a week or more, what problems may follow if the AC is not working? |
Typically, the power goes out and when the problem is fixed it comes back on. If the fault was momentary, it comes back right away. In general no breakers in your house have tripped, however, there have been reports of breakers tripping around the same times of power outages.
Your AC is NOT on the type of breaker (AFCI or GFCI) that would typically trip during a power outage. Now since you have asked this question, it appears that you will have your house closed up for an extended period. You should have a home watch service to keep an eye on your property. Do some research, and get a highly recommended company. |
Another answer is in addition to home watch, "Get to know your neighbors" especially in a situation where they can immediately look after the house after a big lightening storm

Power outages here are no different than where you are living now.

I have lived in The Villages for 9 years and have experienced only one power outage that lasted for about two hours. Have not experienced a Tornado or Hurricane.
Your concern about lack of air movement is more likely to happen due to a defective AC. Power surges, or AC defects can stop the AC without a power outage. This has happened to me several times. Fortunately. I have been around when this happened. If you had this happen while you were away for the summer, and had no one checking, you would be subject to problems. Hence "Home Watch" one way or another. |
