Parking lot etiquette

I understand that vehicles must yield to pedestrians but the pedestrians should show some consideration too. I was in my cart at Pinellas Plaza and got some abuse from a couple for not allowing them to cross in front of me. They appeared suddenly from between parked cars and walked into the lane, not in a marked crosswalk, and just started walking across the lane without looking. I saw them at the last minute but had plenty of room to go since they were barely in the other lane and I had nearly passed by, so I went by. "Thanks a$$?0l@" is what I got. It can be tricky to negotiate all the marked/striped walkways, some with Stop printed, let alone people coming out of stores and from between parked cars and into traffic without looking. Please, pedestrians, give a look and maybe even wave a vehicle past.

I like that philosophy---let's call it parking lot Darwinism. Those too stupid or too careless are removed from the gene pool. Future generations will benefit. A score card and a betting pool could add to the festivities:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Drive defensively. Walk defensively. Enjoy the journey.

The road alongside Lowe's gets me. There must be eight crosswalks linking Lowe's to the parking lot, yet people stroll out of the store and cross anywhere, without even looking

Based upon my observations of people walking up behind a car already backing up, and those people who drive right behind a car that had already started backing up, I would propose that the term"parking lot etiquette" be an oxymoron.........

Walking between cars into oncoming traffic creates a new speed bump

They were in the wrong and I would guess feel entitled to belittle anyone they come across that don't show them proper fealty. Ignore those kinds of people as they will always exist even though they should not.

I have never seen it as bad as it is here in The Villages. People walk behind your car when you're already halfway pulled out of the parking spot and they're sort of running to get past you before you can get all the way out. It's crazy. And I know if I hit them it will be my fault.

As I am walking down the aisle of a parking lot, between parked cars, I'm totally paranoid and looking for any backup lights or movement because I know it's my responsibility to stop and not get run over.

I hate backing out of parking lots-people appear out of nowhere !

NYGUY 02-11-2016 09:52 PM

Lots of people in la la land:oops:

Do what you can so you can pull out instead of backing out-if you are in an accident keep your mouth shut-you are under no obligation to provide anything but your drivers license , insurance car and a breath test if requested. Tell any official I will cooperate 100% after my attorney arrives.
