Village Management doesn’t always agree with The Developer
During the meeting tonight at Rohan, Janet Tutt assured the audience that our local government is independent from some of the wishes of the Developer. She stated that the Developer wanted to sell the utilities money stream south of 466A and north of 44 to The Village government. And, the Village government was interested in the purchase. A deal was not made because the Developer wanted too much for the transfer. This was new to me.
Also, our local government would like to purchase the VLS amenity fees revenue stream which the Developer so far is unwilling to sell. |
What is your point? You presented the facts as you know them, but then...zip, zero, zilch, nada. This sort of thing is not unusual in the least.

No concerns here. TV is the best-run city in which we've ever lived, largely because the developers have had vision, are fiscally responsible, and the whole family works for a living here in TV. Typical politicians running cities are a bad joke and they can't spend constituents into public debt fast enough. It's nice to not have to watch such clown shows running TV into the ground. |
Perhaps?

I agree. See no reason to try to overthrow our CDD way of running things. In fact if it should happen, we would leave. We do not need a badly run, open to all whims and suggestions, tax draining entity. Left those behind. If any of you have had any close dealings with homeowners associations you will agree that it is about people who have never run a business, trying to run a business and with rancor and coups thrown in. |

Gracie, I have to disagree with you on this one....for many years now the CDD'S and the AAC on the north side of The Villages have done a great job |

You misunderstood me kiddo. It is the local CDD's that I am complementing. It IS our local government. There are some who just can't stand the fact that this amazing place is not a democracy. AND I love our democracy....but I love the way this place is run and has been run for the almost nine years we have paid amenity fees. I agree with you, ureout. You are in with me. |

Gracie, I agree with you it is an amazing place to live....but there is a big difference between the N and S south sides....the N has been governed by the Villagers for many years and we have more of a say in decisions... the S side is still governed for the most part by the appointed business owners that work for The Villages...there has been no change over because there are still issues with the IRS that has been going on for years...so far both are working well....we'll see what happens once the S side starts having to buy back all the rec centers and various entities now still ownd by TV |
This place is not a democracy? Well, you can attend the VHA meeting on Tuesday Feb. 16th at the Savannah Regional Rec. Center to ask Janet Tutt that very question. I would be interested in her response.

You can call it whatever you want. It is extremely successful and well run but cannot....CANNOT please everyone. I think a good capitalistic approach if run by good Midwestern folks is to be enjoyed. Why move here and try to change something so very close to perfect? If folks aren't happy they can move somewhere where they can be involved or run for mayor or city council if that is what they like. Most people who move here want to RETIRE from running things and just sit back and enjoy this very well run place. But not all. No. Not all. |
Well said
