"Upon your arrival, our friendly staff will be glad to tell you all about the many complimentary on-site activities included as part of your room rate. For nature lovers, we can provide a carefully marked map and small emergency radio for a foot hike along one of our horse paths, roads or one of over a dozen smaller trails. Tread lightly and you’re likely to see more than a few species of wildlife, including the American buffalo, Carmen mountains white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, aoudad, coyotes, black bears, javelinas, mountain lions and bobcats/ringtail cats, along with domestic livestock grazing in our pastures. Also, since our lands host over 500 species of birds, from golden eagles and peregrine falcons to roadrunners and turkeys, as well as 18 known species of bats; bird watching is also an excellent choice.

Fishermen of all ages and experience levels can enjoy excellent catch-and-release fishing in our lake stocked with largemouth bass, catfish and perch. Create your ideal setup from our selection of community casting/spinning/fly rods and lures for the perfect day on the water. Paddle boats are also available for those who want to float while fishing or simply take in the beautiful views.

For a faster-paced activity, test your limits with one of our complimentary-use mountain bikes on over 100 miles of trails and roads throughout the ranch and consider ordering a picnic lunch to take with you. Indoor activities such as the visiting the libraries and museums at El Cíbolo and La Ciénega, playing cards and watching satellite TV in select public spaces are all free of charge as well. Each evening at the forts, we light a campfire and encourage our guests to gather around. Nicknamed the “South Texas TV”, these spots form an environment reminiscent of previous decades, before television service was available in rural Texas."
