Curious of the 3 year manufacture with the plastic parts as we are looking ourselves for a new machine.

It was a Maytag which we purchased shortly after Whirlpool bought Maytag. We had had a Whirlpool for years and only had to get a new machine when the Whirlpool basket rotted out.
We did our homework online first and found that, unfortunately, most of the good old names in Washing Machines have gone over to the plastic parts. We then went to Lowe's very very early one morning when the salesman had loads of time to work with us and decided to take a chance on the LG which is all steel. Mr. Beck had also recommended that when we purchased a new machine, we take the warranty, so we got a one year Lowe's warranty and then bought the $60 three year warranty and hopefully this will be the last washing machine we have to buy. We would have liked to buy American if we could have found an all steel machine.
The one drawback so far is the LG is thinner and taller than the Maytag. So we have a nice flat fronted dryer and right beside it is the LG which is rounded, thin and tall. I am a neat freak so it bothered me for a while, fortunately the machine does such a good that I am recovering.
