what's up with Yankee Candles...
 

Regarding the large jar Yankee Candles and other brands, too, can someone tell me if there is a way to avoid the "unused" candle wax that remains around the jar from top to bottom. It seems that, as the wick burns down, only the wax in the middle is consumed and a lot of wax around the inside of the jar is wasted and not used up. :shrug:

Easy solution for any jar candles.

Turn your oven to the lowest setting and "bake" the jar until all the wax has melted to the bottom of the jar. You may need to trim the wick or add a new one....(available at craft stores). Let the candle set and solidify....surprise a new candle ready to burn.
P.S. your house will smell delicious while the jar is "baking":coolsmiley:

Fantastic suggestion! Thank you for taking the time to educate me on this. Obviously, I haven't had much experience with candles but lately I thought it would be nice to light one and enjoy the aroma. thanks, again.

Beady, does all that fragrance permeate the oven and bake into the next dishes one would cook in the oven? I don't have a real high tolerance for fragrance saturating the house... maybe I could set it on the outdoor grill with low heat to avoid overscenting. :D

TKRET, Great question. Beady, Great answer!!! I used to make my own candles a long time ago. All shapes, colors and scents. I was in a homemade gift mode! Then I decided it was cheaper to just buy them. I donated the molds to my kids highschool art dept.. They were thrilled to get them!

To avoid the soot and mess we use a little 'hotplate' for our candles. It melts the wax and releases the aroma. The candle lasts a lot longer since nothing gets burned and you don't have to worry about the open flame. I have seen them for sale at Bob Evans and places like Bed, Bath & Beyond. I doubt you'll see them at the candle stores since they would prefer that you burn them down and purchase more.

Peachie...not to worry, the scent does not affect your oven and the fragrance lingers only while the jar is "baking"
I do this a lot and have never had a problem with the oven.

Maybe you can just contact Yankee candles, and have them send you the jars without the wax, and cut all the work out!!!!
