Loretta Lynn at the Sharon last night

Went to the Sharon Performing Arts Center last night to see Loretta Lynn. I have always wanted to see her. She was raised in a little town near where my mom grew up in Kentucky and she was a coal miner's daughter same as my mom was so hearing her voice reminds me of my mom. She is 84 now and still touring with her band and her twin daughters, Patsy and Peggy. Patsy has a really great voice and rescued Loretta a few times last night as well as did her band but it didn't take away from the show. I felt honored to be able to witness her singing and it has always been on my bucket list. Here is a link to her web page. She is putting out her final album called Full Circle.

The place was packed, I did not hear one boo and there were a few standing ovations. She has many true fans who were pleased to see her perform here. The price was high but I paid it and don't regret it.

Maybe out of respect for the life and career Loretta has given to country music.

Please do not direct comments at each other.

Thanks

Yes, that is exactly why I was there. I knew in advance she was 84 and didn't expect she would be out there doing cartwheels but I respect her career, love her music and felt privileged to be able to see her in what I expect to be her last tour.

She has had quite a life. God bless her for giving her fans whatever she has at 84. She surely did not need to do it for the money.

I missed a book signing she did a few weeks ago in Sumter landing. I should have went. When I was about 9 or 10 years old she was autographing records in a Sundry store in Chillicothe Ohio. She was so gracious and sweet to everyone. I'm betting she hasn't changed.

Class Act

Looked for her last night on Jimmy Falon but she wasn't on....was she? She mentioned that she would be leaving from TV heading to NY right after the show. And yes I got an autographed book.

I agree she did say that and I wonder what happened? She isn't listed in the coming week or so either. I looked on the internet to see if she is ill or something but didn't find anything. Here is an interesting article. She is doing this tour for the benefit of her children and grandchildren, which is what I had suspected. She said she has a whole houseful. Yes, respect for a person working for a living and for others' enjoyment, in her eighties (while some here retired at age 52 and 55 with good pensions), is becoming a lost concept in the entitled populations.

Hi. I loved the show. She will be on Jimmy Fallon 3/3
And will sing her new song off the new CD, which she
Performed. A living legend for sure!

Thanks for the info. I put that on my calendar.

Loretta Lynn was interviewed by NPR. It is on today, March 4.

You can go to npr.org to listen to it. (I would link it but I keep forgetting to find out how to do that on my iPad.) It is a really short interview, only about 7 minutes.

Loretta Lynn was on the Today show this morning. She sang with her six-piece band.
