Need your wise opinions please!

Well the time is getting near for us to FINALLY move to the Villages. I value your opinions so much and all of you have helped me more than you will ever know! I read your posts everyday. I feel like Ive known you forever. Actually been lurking for 3 yrs. Anyway, I have just a few questions for now. Our plan is to list my existing house in June and move on up. We live in South Fla. Wee plan on buying a block Villa maybe new, maybe fairly new. I am a Hospice nurse and my Sig other is a staff accountant. Yes, we are still gonna work!

1. Where should we stay for at least two months before we buy? We have a small dog, a quiet bird and an indoor cat. We have considered renting a villa. We called extended stay and they wanted too much money. The villas seem reasonable. Are there any other options?

2. Where should we have our mail forwarded to? A PO box?

3. Which is better..Ratpack or Pods?

Thank you all...so excited!

If I were you, I would start searching for a rental on VillagersHomes4Rent.com. You will have more of a difficult time with so many pets but I am sure there will be those willing to accept your family. June thru November is the most reasonable time to rent in TV's, as the northerners usually don't start returning until October and the months after.
Best of luck!!!!!

Lots of guestions;
Do you have to sell your current property before moving?
Do you have idea which area you prefer to be (north, south, central)
Can you time the move so you can rent in the summer? Way cheaper than nov-apr.
also, rental will cheaper than daily charge of hotels. Which some my or may not allow pets?
are you on some what budget? If so consider which county to buy in. Taxes can be high
(Marion county IMO are th highest)
I used PODS and had no problems.
other can give there opinions

Wow that was quick!

Thanks so much for quick responses.
Yes we do have to sell before buying. The houses in my area sell quick so the plan is to move definitely this summer.
We prefer a few areas..near Tall trees, or south.
We actually just now Found some apts in Ocala that are very reasonable, furnished and allow pets. I know I have more questions, just can't think of any now.
Again, Thank you!

I like PODS, but have not used the (around TV) local franchise.

Used one large pod for whole ranch house. Had it in storage in Florida till we bought(a few months($100/mo.). Moved in and 3 days later the pod arrived. It was full...took a day and a half to unload(myself, wife, daughter and friend). No issues at all.

Another vote for PODS.

Glad you found a place to rent in Ocala as I thought you might have a hard time with your pets.

I rent my Village home and have to rent when we visit TV! I now have two cats and a dog. Some rentals will take a dog but I haven't found any that allows cats! So, we limit our visits to TV to two weeks at a time as I won't leave my cats home with a petsitter for any longer than that! I can't wait till I move to TV so I won't have to worry about that!

I've always liked a couple of the courtyard villas but the garages almost drove me nuts. We rented one villa where we had about 4" between my Ford Flex and the golf cart! Mom would be directing me from one side of the Flex and my aunt was on the other side! Yikes, I wouldn't want to do that every day! A lot of the new villas in southern TV have two car garages.

We live in BonnyBrook, next to Tall Trees. This is a great area to be. :)
