To Tax Or Not To Tax?
Went to one of The Villages CC yesterday after golf with a group of six. After dinner we received the checks for the meals. Totals were calculated on the bill followed by the tax. Next came suggested tip amounts. The problem was that the tip amounts were including the tax on the total bill!
Going to Dunkin Donuts, ordering a few bagels that are not prepared but just placed in a bag to bring home.....tax is charged! Clarification is in order concerning these practices. |
Florida has tax on things other states do not to offset no state income tax. Pretty sure you could google Florida sales tax and learn more than you ever wanted to know.

Tip on the pre-tax amount. It really is not too hard to figure 20 percent, is it? |
I like the no state tax and Don't buy anything no tax, all sudden them bagels or donuts sounds better when I make them myself and eat at home. I feel sorry for some people that have to eat out all the time. Not only do they get taxes, they gain weight, hard on their heart, due to all the extras in the meals to make them taste better IF you can find restaurant that actually tastes good? IMO my opinion most are poor to my tastes at best let alone the high charge (which Leaves bad taste in my mouth :ohdear:). haven't found one restaurant (not chain restaurants) worth going back to yet IMO. Meaning none above average.

State of Florida.com | Florida Tax Guide |
I should have stated in my earlier post. I was raised in Florida and lived most of my life in Florida. I love no state income tax. A great deal of the money is collected through tourist and hotel taxes. When we worked in denver, we paid a city and state income tax. That hurt!
