Woof Gang Bakery- Brownwood will host a Poodle and Pooch Rescue Adoption Event during the Brownwood Craft Festival.
Saturday, March 26th ~~ TOMORROW ~~ 10am till 2pm We will have seven cute pooches there to meet you. PPR is also actively recruiting foster families, as we just took in 19 Lhasa Apso's from a breeding situation. In addition, 3 weeks ago we rescued 52 dogs that were roaming in The Redlands, FL. near the Everglades. Dogs of all shapes and sizes -- some hit by cars, others shot point blank with B-B guns. They are on the road to recovery after full vetting and their next step is a foster home. I am fostering the two cuties below, Cora and Sara...and I think they are HOME!! We look forward to seeing you there!!! |

I can't speak to the age issue, other than to say I will certainly consider our age and the possible age of our next golden down the line. Although we have a confirmed couple to care for any dog we leave behind (if he wants his inheritance... KIDDING!!), I certainly wouldn't want to be, say, 70 and get a dog with a possible 15- to 20-year lifespan.
Along with our ageing boy (8), we are permanently fostering a 15-yr-old golden who was given up when the owner moved. He's a sweetheart, and this is a rewarding experience. We plan to keep fostering senior goldens and hope others will consider at least fostering a rescue, if not adopting. These rescue organizations spend a vast amount of money on health care of the dogs they rescue, including very expensive operations and post-op care and medications. I can see why they put so much effort into choosing adopters, considering the investment they have in the dogs they rescue. Good luck to the Poodle and Pooch people tomorrow. he rescue org |

I wish I could offer to foster, but we are returning to Canada in April. And thanks to CFrance for providing sanctuary for a 15 year old golden! One of my dogs is 15 1/2 now, still loving life, but blind and deaf. When he passes over the rainbow bridge (I sure hope it's not soon), I intend to rescue an adult dog. My puppy days are over. |

A hug for you. |
It was so nice meeting the volunteers and I had a wonderful time visiting with the pups! I am going to put in a foster/adoption application. After seeing the story of her rescue online, I just fell in love with Spot, the poor baby who was shot in the eye with a BB gun. She wasn't at the event yesterday so I didn't get to meet her, but I hope to soon.
Congrats to Cora and Sara - I love foster failures! |
Foster Failures
I resemble that remark Terri TVG...
Yes, after two years of fostering all sorts of dogs, these two girls from The Redlands will be living the good life in The Villages. I'm keeping paws crossed that it works out for Spot to join you here soon. Thanks for coming to the event at Woof Gang Bakery and we look forward to you joining our great group of volunteers. Susan |
