Do you think TV would be better...

Given the crime stats for adult children living with villagers, let me just throw this thought out. I have no idea if it would be legal or not....
What if instead of 19, a person had to be 40 to reside in TV? Of course there could be exceptions made for handicapped adult children who cannot live on their own...
Do you think that would make TV better? Cut out some of the crimes related to drug addiction?
Just looking for opinions, not stating one.

There have been plenty over 40 who make the headlines.
This sound something like what I have been hearing on the news..................

And the majority of them have been under 40.
I'm not a mind reader so I have no idea what you've been hearing on the news.

I disagree with you that the majority are under 40. Can you cite a source for that?

My source is only arrest records for sumter county. Don't know about down south. And for discussion sake, make it 50 if you want?

But I will clarify that more of the sex offenders living in TV are older.

They should make the villages a retirement community, 55 and over. I think it's an idea that may take off.

Florida law allows up to %20 of people to be under 55.

Home / Resources / 55+ Housing / Requirements
Requirements
Federal Register 24 CFR Part 100; section 760.24-760.37 (4a), Florida Statutes

For a community to be considered "housing for older persons" as a 55+ community, the housing must be intended and operated for occupancy by persons 55 years of age or older and meet the following requirements:

At least 80% of the occupied units are occupied by at least one person 55 years of age or older.
The facility or community publishes and adheres to policies and procedures that demonstrate its intent to in fact be a provider of housing for older persons.
The facility or community complies with rules established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for verification of occupancy.

How about comparing the arrest records of other cities the size of TV?

Then there would be a basis for discussion.

The villages dot com amateur hour is not a credible source.

I think it would be worse not better. I personally like to see young people living here. I also believe that if you're 19 and living with your parents, that would be somewhat normal and, on the other hand, there is probably something wrong if you are 45 and still living with your parents but not in all cases. Hey, here's an idea, let's make 82.5 the max age and we could reduce the number of medically induced vehicle accidents!

Every time this issue is raised, I ask but never get an answer. Who keeps an official count? Where are the stats? And who tracks the number
and enforces the law?

I think TV would be better without taking a handful of police blotter reports and stereotyping 119,000 people as "guilty" of housing deadbeat offspring, just because the front page of that "other online newspaper" puts mug shots on the front page, above the fold.

Right now, these (below) are the front page headlines appearing BEFORE a story on The Villages HONOR FLIGHT. That paper loves to put this skanky stuff before decent, honorable citizen stories here.......

I think similar Federal Law controls in this case and I doubt you can pick out any age below 65 to satisfy yourself as the OP suggested. I am going to guess that 19 is part of the law.
