Recommendation for Mobile Pet Groomer
 

Looking for recommendations for mobile pet groomer, any suggestions on a groomer that you have used and are very pleased with. Thank You.

We use Michele, owner of Grooming Way-In. Her # is (954) 551-8900.
We have been very happy with her. Tell her Xander's Mom sent you.

But be aware Michele no longer takes on new dogs over 40 lbs. I had her once, and she seemed to experience a lot of back pain doing our big boy. I felt bad for her.

I have switched to Grooms To Go (Steve), who does both our goldens back to back. 352-209-5755. He charges $50 for each of them.

Ha! No more puppies for us! We rescued a 15-yr-old. Sweet old boy.:smiley:

Our boy Mr. Barney the Boxer has a bad passenger side rear leg, pretty common in Boxers. I can't believe that you found someone that you trust with your dog for only $50. Our Vet said no more cage for our guy before or after his grooming at PetSmart. He always comes out limping more than when he went in. I had a mobile groomer come to the house and he charged $95 with the full treatment. I really like the idea of a rescue dog or being a foster family one day down the road. I am concerned about the move for our boy to Florida. He is about 8 years old. I will do whatever is necessary to comfort him on the trip and prefer to transport him myself unless someone who has had experience with a transporter can convince me it would be better for Mr. Barney with a professional. I couldn't forgive myself if anything happened to our boy on the trip. If we know that he will be OK it will make this gigantic move so much easier.

It was a fluke that I found this guy. In my walks around the neighborhood, I stopped at every mobile pet groomer's truck I saw to ask if they do big dogs. I would take our 8-yr-old to the groomer, and he would be there all day, stuck in a cage while the littler, anxious dogs were done first. He's just too docile, and they took advantage of him. I tried several places. Finally, one near us said if we brought him at 7:30, he would be first. We did that, but it still took three hours, and frankly they did a mediocre job and were not all that customer friendly. Steve takes an hour.

When we got the older one, he hadn't been groomed in years and had at least three seasons of undercoat and dander that was stuck in there. You could just pull it off. I explained this and Quincy's arthritic hips to Steve, and he wasn't worried at all. He let Quincy lie on the floor, and he blew most of the coat and dander out with his strong blow dryer. (You should have seen our yard and his truck!) Then he bathed him. He doesn't use a table. Old arthritic Q came bounding out of that van and up to the door, tail wagging.

About transporting... There used to be a pet airline that flies only pets to different places in the US. They have kennels set up inside the plane. I don't know it it's still in business. Best of luck to you with your boxer. I hope you find a comfortable way of transporting him. We are down here for good, so the dogs don't travel much, except to The Keys (6 hrs) or Cocoa Beach (2hrs).

Bless you, you've really done it now, you made my wife cry...with happiness...never knew about the kennel on a plane option. I'm sure I can come up with someone who provides that service. We also use Jessica, P&J Flawless Paws Mobile Grooming. Very happy with her work! She has a Facebook page that shows all of the dogs and cats that she has groomed. They all look great, my opinion.

As far as I know, Kathie, there is only one pet airline company who actually puts your dog into the passenger compartment of a commercial airliner used exclusively for pets (no people allowed) and flies them from point A to point B. (I could be wrong; maybe there's more. We haven't had to check in 6 years.).

There are many pet transport companies that will pick your dog up and accompany it to an airport to be put in the cargo part of one of the major airlines' planes. At great expense, with the possibility of having to change planes, especially if coming across country. I was trying to save Nucky's dog the painful long drive down to TV, due to his severe arthritis. I have a severely arthritic dog right now, and putting him into a car for transport is something I avoid when at all possible.:wave:

Wow, that is sooooooooooooo kind of you to do, rescue a senior. He will live out his last years with a brother and wonderful family.

From what I know about CF, that family member will likely visit the Eiffel Tower and the vineyards of Bordeaux.

All kidding aside, CF is a very special person.
