What if Trump and Sanders split off......
.......and it's a 4 way race.
Who wins? Look at the polls. Sanders outperforms Clinton against Trump. And what about Cruz? Do his chances go up with 4 candidates? |
It won't happen, so why tire yourself out?

Bernie Sanders Independent Run: If He Doesn
The GOP might push Donald out if they think that Bernie will run as an independent. |
There is a very good possibility that Trump the Chump will go 3rd party since the RNC is doing everything to keep him from being the nominee. :rant-rave:
Sanders will just get some concessions and will be happy. Trump the Chump splits the party. Hillary wins. The USA wins. :2excited: |

I'm not so sure Trump even wanted the win very much when he started. He doesn't have as much to loose. Hillary has been working and dreaming about this for years. Ted figures with Koch funding he could unite the GOP and win. This would make a good movie. |

So, who cares if Sanders splits off. That will kill Hillary's chances. Trump may be a nut, but he is not stupid enough to run a third party bid. He knows that he would become a pariah. |

"Now, as Trump sees this effort by Washington insiders take real shape to stop him, and he continues to hear rumblings that even if he has the most votes, he might not be the nominee, Trump is using what he's got in hopes they back off again. So, it's not really about Trump supporting anyone, it's about him not running third party in the fall, and hobbling the party's chances at the White House. Some party loyalists, though, are willing to take that chance, because they believe Trump as the standard-bearer of their party would be even worse. (By the way, a Trump third-party bid may prove more complicated than Trump thinks because of complex, state-by-state ballot access rules, but if you're someone who doesn't know or care about the rules, who knows? He could run a write-in campaign — and everyone knows how to spell "Trump.") Does this make Trump seem indecisive, or is he making the most convenient decision at the time, like all politicians? It's certainly a risk for Trump to look like he's inconsistent. But one man's inconsistent, indecisive or even calculating is another man's unpredictable, powerful and smart. In other words, for people who didn't like him, they'll continue to think the worst. And for his supporters, they'll think more power to him, because they're there for him — not for the Republican Party." |

"Bowing out of the race and allowing Hillary to forge her path to the White House as the possible first female President would be a no-brainer should she win the nomination and face only one Republican challenger in November. However, there is a very real possibility Donald Trump could run as a third-party candidate should the GOP decide to broker their convention and go with a more established candidate." This four way race is not as far fetched as it may first appear. |

Are there any posters on this forum old enough to remember the last time republicans won the popular vote in a presidential election? Was it 1988, 28 years ago? |

Don't rule out a contested democratic convention. Still waiting to see if Clinton can make it past June. She could not in 2008! |
