Honest John's Ruined their menu
Was planning on going to Honest John's. Looks like they did away with some unique items, By doing this they have lost their identity. Now they're the same as RJ Gators, Gators Dockside, and other fast fry joints
|
We still like Honest John's!!
|
We like Honest John's. Love the fish & chips and the Monsieur Croque sandwich.

We talked to them about the menu changes, especially the removal of the steaks (except filet). They also now charge for some items that were included in the dinners. Their change was due to the lack of sales on the items that were removed. I suppose that all goes to purchase volume and sell prices. The change to the menu has reduced the times we go there but the quality of what they have seems to be more than acceptable. I have found it is easier to get in then it used to be, not sure the menu changes have contributed to that.

Yeah, its easier to get in, because people who wanted something special are going someplace else-when they did away with the shrimp& grits--there is nothing on the menu for my wife

Nothing? She doesn't do hamburgers? |
we don't go out to eat burgers, we make a better burger @ home than any restaurant in the villages-charbroiled over real lump charcoal, 10 oz of 15%/meat-red onion, we use a crumpet for our roll, crumbled blue cheese

I may not always favor a lot of the choices on the menus around TV, I do prefer my own cooking and so does my husband. Honest Johns is pretty good, especially the filet which my husband says is one of the best in The Villages. I always find something there and they are accommodating to make something for me if it's not on the menu.

Still going Saturday. Looks like I will be spending a day making grits now:mad:

Talking about a filet--they serve "choice"-you can buy "prime" @ Public for $25/lb- you can either put a cast iron skillet in an oven @ 500 degrees or stove top it with a little oil in the pan ,finish with little butter-not rocket science
Prime makes choice look like dog food & no MSG needed |

Isn't that what little miss muffet sat on? No that was a tuffet. I thought crumpet's went with tea. I am so uninformed and have such an unsophisticated palate. But my grandchildren love me and they are all employed gainfully. |
Going out gives the home cook a rest even though Imcan cook better.

Crumpets can go with tea, Gracie. My grandmother used to serve them with hot butter and honey during afternoon tea. Here is some more info for you: Hot crumpets English crumpets are generally circular, roughly 8 cm (3") in diameter and 2 cm (0.8") thick. Their shape comes from being restrained in the pan/griddle by a shallow ring. They have a characteristic flat top with many small pores and a chewy and spongy texture. They may be cooked until ready to eat warm from the pan but are frequently left slightly undercooked so that they may be cooled and stored before being eaten freshly toasted. They are often eaten with a spread of butter or an alternative, such as jam, honey, chocolate spread, or yeast extract. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2c982de084.jpg |
