Looking for touch up paint

I have a patio villa that is 5 years old and I am looking to touch up the paint in places. The wall paint in my touch up package that I got when I bought my house was used on a deficiency when I first bought my house. I took the empty can to Sherwin Williams and they said the only way I can get the matching paint is to by a 5 gallon container as the paint on my walls is installers paint and only available in 5 gal containers. All I need is a quart. The paint I am looking for is hayseed, Mesa flat wall and ceiling paint. I called the warranty office and they told me to try Florida paints which I did. They, like Sherwin Williams said they have the color but the paint they have may not match my existing paint due to the sheen. I was thinking maybe Lowes or Home Depot could match it if I brought the empty can with the residual paint. Has anyone tried that? If anyone knows of a good paint store who can help me out or has another suggestion I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!!

With a small sample, Lowes or Home Depot should be able to help you. It might not be perfect but it'll be close. Good luck.

Try SunCoast Paints (Pinellas), they make quarts. If all else fails, and you have a color sample, Lowes, Home Depot, and ACE all have color match systems and make quarts.

Hope this helps.

SunColor does make quarts, however (as I found out) some colors and finishes are only available in gallon sizes.

Is SunColor and Florida one and the same store?

Thank you for correcting me on the name, and the last time I went to SunColor (Pinellas Plaza), I recall seeing a different name on the building or door. I am sorry I did not make note of the name.

I don't know which Sherwin Williams you went to--The store off of Wedgwood , made a quart a quart of Hayseed for me.

What was explained to me at Sherwin Williams is that the paint used originally is builder's grade paint. That base paint is sold only in 5 gallon buckets. You can have a regular base can of paint mixed with the hayseed color in any size you want but the quality of the paint is different and will look different on the wall.

Where is the touch up located? Paint fades after 5 yrs. A touch up in the middle of a wall is hard, the paint has to be thinned by 15% and applied very thinly in a multitude of coats. The best way is to paint the entire section from a corner to a break. Sherwin Williams can make the color Hayseed in Qts. The paint on your walls is a contractors quality which basically is a primer. Any questions give me a call Len 352-205-8213
