Large Planters
Can anyone tell me where to find large pastel colored planters like you see in front of the stores at Lake Sumter Landing?
|
I was at Porter's on Route 27 last year, and they had a nice selection of planters. Don't know if they have exactly what you're looking for but it might be a good place to start.
|
Better make sure they're allowed where you're planning to put them before you waste the money. You never can tell if a neighbor will complain or Neighborhood Watch will just come banging on your door.
|
John N tells us that planters are allowed south of 466 as long as they have REAL plants in them.

Who is John N?

I think they are talking about pots , not planters........... potted fumar |
I wonder. I have heard you can only have real plants in the front yard, no non-organic plants or cutesy statues etc.
Can you have topiaries like they have in Disney? http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...ifeMossTTN.gif http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...feGPMossTN.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...keyMossTTN.gif http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...aSerpSFTTN.gif |
Susan,
To your question....someone in my area has a (fake) Mickey Mouse topiary near his front entrance. The Village Watch has dinged him for this several times as it is against the deed compliance rules. His reply/defense is to put a seasonal flag/decoration on Mickey (right now he is holding a red Santa sack) at all times of the year. Seasonal decorations are allowed for up to 30 days at a time, so, the neighbor finds an appropriate event and adorns Mickey accordingly. It's kind of a cute topiary but rules is rules. So far, he and the Watch are at a standoff. |
I agree rules are rules Seven, and the rules in place make TV what it is.
I just wonder if the topiary is a real shrub growing into a set shape either in the ground or in a pot...is it within the guidelines? How many? How big? I think they could be a lot of fun if well done, but who would be the judge of that? |
Fairview Farms & Nurseries on Highway 301 (north of 466) has lots of nice stuff. Their telephone number is 352-748-7333.
Gotta love the fake Mickey Mouse topiary, appropriately decorated for "seasons". Someone has a sense of humour. :coolsmiley: |

Here is a link to painting plastic planters: http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple...6909-2,00.html You can find the large planters at any garden store, Lowe's or Home Depot, then buy the appropriate pastel paint and do it your self. Good luck. |

Sorry , not supposed to be legal but here they are and they look nice... foot in mouth FUMAR |
graciegirl, to clarify,
you can have whatever you want as long as ARB approves it. We have clay pots, big ones, with live plants in our patio villa, approved. I just asked about pots, they said yes, didn't ask if artificial was ok, it might be. We got ours at Fairfield Farms on 301 (or is it Fairview? LOL). Anyway, Porters is good, heck, Home Depot and Lowes have some ok things there and the price is always right. Shop around. |
