Electrician Needed
 

Could someone please recommend an electrician that they used in their home? We have at least one circuit that lost power and can't find the source of the problem.

We've also used Lenhart Electric on several occasions. Their work was excellent, and their price fair. i believe they have a Wildwwod address.

You could look for a sticker on your electric panel and it will show who originally wired your home. We use Pike's. Very good and reasonably priced.

Which circuit? The circuits in the lanai, are typically powered from GFI receptacles in the Garage. In our house there are 3 GFI receptacles in the garage for the garage, outdoor receptacles, pole light etc. Check these first, could save you the cost of a house call.

Thanks for that tip Villagetinker. I could only find one GFCI in the garage but it was tripped and when I reset it it fixed part of my problem.

I have a Lantana and the pole light, front bedroom, and lanai all lost power. Resetting the GFCI brought the lanai back to life and I'll check on the pole light tonight, but the front bedroom is still powerless. That makes me think it might be on a different circuit than the lanai and maybe the pole light is too.

But that was a great tip about the GFCI and I know they have a reputation as problem creators and that makes me think the previous owner might have removed them and replaced them with ordinary outlets. Maybe there's still one hidden somewhere and I'll keep looking.

Bedrooms are supposed to be on AFCI breakers, these can usually be identified in the circuit breaker box. Double check all of these, in some cases, a tripped breaker can look like the handle is still in the on position. The post light, as I recall is also on a GFCI circuit, look around your house to see if you have any other GFCI receptacles and see if any of these are tripped. Villagetinkerer you're the best!

I had already thrown and reset the circuit breakers this morning when I was troubleshooting, but I took your advice and tried them again. It turns out that there is an "On" position, and an "Off" position, but if you try harder you find that there is a further position that you can reach with a little effort because you need to overpower a spring to get to it. It's easy and obvious once you do it and it reset the power to the room.

The circuit breaker panel was clearly marked, I just didn't try hard enough. It also shows that there was only one GFCI ever installed in the garage.
