Bad seats or bad sound system at The Sharon?
Last Saturday evening eight of us attended the Tony award-winning musical Once at The Sharon. All of us have attended performances there before, so we knew we could expect a Broadway class show. The show was, as expected, outstanding! The seats we had, however, were disastrous. We were seated in rows B and C in the far right orchestra. However, none of us could hear the actors' words. Everything was garbled. At intermission we asked about it and found that the folks in the far left orchestra front rows couldn't hear them either. The sound folks were notified and the second half of the performance was fine. My complaint is that we paid almost $90.00 per person. This was the third performance of the show. The ushers told us to contact the Box Office. The Box Office referred me to a person named Elizabeth and a phone number. Elizabeth told me there would be no refunds. The show had left town and so had our money. She assured me that the theatre would be informed in the hope this would never happen again. Beautiful venue, expensive tickets, but you can't hear in the front row? Hmmmm. Seems like this could be very serious if it does happen again. Most of us won't be paying for The Sharon. We can go to Dr. Phillips in Orlando or The Straz in Tampa and have better performances where we can get a tried and true sound system. I'm disappointed. I had so hoped we might have an opportunity to get season tickets at The Sharon in the future.
