Lost golf club
On Wednesday, Dec. 31st, four of us went golfing on the Churchill course. Around hole #3 my brother-in-law left his new sand wedge (a bazooka) near the sand or green. While on the fifth how we realized this and went back to look for it.
We asked the two groups behind us and they hadn't seen it. We looked around the green and sand on the third, but didn't spot it. We went back to the starter shack every day, but no luck. Anyone have any other ideas on what to do to try and get this club back? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

:ohdear: Is there a "Lost & Found" associated with that golf course? I would hate to think there are dishonest golfers in TV :ohdear:

Did everyone in your group check their bags. Mine was accidentally picked up by one of my foursome and didn't realize it until everyone checked their bags.

Keep ideas coming. I will report if I find it.
Times have changed here, yes CIB once in awhile someone will steal a club but usually it is just lost. Chuckster-good idea! Going to go make a few phone calls. KayakerNC--:agree: |
I am giving up getting this club back. But I did learn from the starter shacks and the ambassadors that in the last two years, many are losing clubs and not getting them back! That is sad to hear. :(
But the good news- it was my brother-in-laws club!:icon_wink: |
If it helps, the championship courses can make personalized address labels that will attach to the shaft of your clubs. They come 15 or 16 labels to a sheet, forget the exact number. Price is around 5.00 and well worth it as it will list your name/address/telephone. Makes club id easier when there are a stack of them in lost and found.

Having been a golfer for the better part of 40 years I really haven't run into a problem like this often. We were taught to put our pitching or sand wedge or whatever we used for the approach shot on the green in the direct path back to the cart or cart path, whether walking or riding so we literally would have to almost trip over it. Most people do pull two clubs for their approach shot.
Most people who find clubs pick them up and put them in their bag. Sometimes at the end of the round they forget they are there in the business of adding up scores and paying a side bet, thanking someone for a nice round etc. Most people have a matched set of clubs and have no need for someone else's wedge or nine iron because it isn't right for their height or game. I don't think many are taken and kept on purpose. Sometimes a golfer who picks up the club finds the club only after he returns home in another state too. |
I hope someone turns it in to the starter shack, but don't hold your breath. Anything not bolted down around TV is subject to theft - from packets of Sweet n Low to golf clubs plucked right out of your bag.

Sorry to hear of the loss. Unfortunately, a wedge of any type is more likely to be stolen than something like an 8 iron for example. Many golfers buy wedges separately (as unmatched clubs) to complement their set of irons, so finding someone's good wedge may be quite enticing. The idea of name/address labels is a good one. I left an 8 iron on the green recently and wished I had my name on it. Luckily someone did turn it in. Try the starter shack in a week or two, and someone may have realized it was in their bag by mistake and will turn it in. If they only play once a week, it may take them awhile before they notice.

I am told that there are many times clubs are stolen...they are taken right out of the back of golf carts...and sold elsewhere.
We can NEVER stop anywhere on the way home from golf...must secure the clubs!! Sad that one must live this way....fearful that something will be stolen out of a cart....even in paradise.... |
My golfing partner recently purchased a new Callaway FTIQ driver($500). The first thing he did was change his new, fancy head cover for an old scruffy one. No need to advertise. Also expensive putters are also disguised easily using this technique.
